Message

We are committed to promote Sports and Games at all levels in the

campus with a two – fold objective. One is to help the students stay

physically fit and healthy and the other is to help the students to have

better understanding, better coordination and lead a meaningful life. The

talents of the students are identified and focused training is given to them

to excel in sports performance. The efforts of the faculty of Physical

Education are laudable as our students have brought many laurels to the

Institution by winning a number of competitions. And it is our wish to

strive hard towards better excellence and ultimately taking the Institution

to the dizzy heights of excellence that is, placing it in the national sports

map of India.

I wish them success in all their future endeavours.

Department of Physical Education

Profile

The Department of Physical Education was established in the year 2007. The Department is

equipped with good infrastructure facilities. We are taking part in nearly 34 Sports & games in various

categories including men & women, proper & scientific training is given to the students by the faculties

from our own department to achieve greater level.

Vision

To strive for excellence in the promotion of sports and games for the holistic development of the

students.

Mission

The department is committed to promote Sports and Games in the campus striving to make

students physically fit and enrich interpersonal skills besides advocating emotional and spiritual quotient

as a part of the students personality development programme.

Activities of the Department

Intensive coaching camps are organized for the following sports and games for (Men & Women)

Athletics, Basketball, Ball Badminton, Badminton, Boxing, Cricket, Chess, Handball, Football, Fencing,

Hockey, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Power lifting, Softball, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball,

Weight lifting and Paralympics. Preparing the students for the Zonal & Inter-Zonal tournament is an

essential job. Also conducting Inter department tournaments, organized grad Sports day.

Sports Facilities For the overall development of every student, the Department of Physical Education provides all

Badminton Men team Secured III Position in the State level Tournament organized by

PITS Thanjavur 01.10.2015 & 03.10.2015.

Hockey (Men) team won the III Positions VIE 2016 tournament held at Jain University,

Bangalore from

15.02.2016 to 17.02.2016 and FANATICS CLUB tournament, Sivagangai on 06.03.2016.

Basketball Women team won III Position in the COLLESEUM tournament, held at Sastra

University, Thanjavur on 12.0.2.2016 & 13.02.2016.

Ball Badminton women team won the District level CM Trophy, held at Anna stadium,

Trichy on 01.02.2016. Six Players have been selected to play state level CM Trophy to be

held at Tiruppur.

Inter – District Level Participants

Sasi.N III-ECE & Vasanthi.D III-Civil Ball Badminton women players of our college

have participated the Tamilnadu State Junior Ball Badminton Women Championship held at

Excel Engineering College, Namakkal on 05.09.2015 & 06.09.2015.

J.Sureshkumar III Mech & A.Vairamuthukumar III Mech Ball Badminton Men players

represented Trichy District Ball Badminton team and Participated in Tamilnadu State level

Junior Ball Badminton Championship and Won the tournament held at Excel Engineering

College, Namakkal on 05.09.2015 & 06.09.2015.

JEYAVIGNESH.V - IV – Year Petrochemical Tech. has won the physically challenged

Table Tennis tournament held at Sivakasi. He also attended the selection trials for Indian

National Para Table Tennis team held at Indoor (Madhya Pradesh) from 25.09.2015 to

27.09.2015.

VINOTHKUMAR.M – IV – Mechanical Engg. Secured Gold medal in 5th

National Rural

Games 2015 Chess tournament held at Kongunadu College of Engineering Technology,

NEHRUMATHI.A – II – Pharmaceutical Tech. secured Silver medal in 28th

State Senior Taekwondo Championship 2015 held at Mahatma Gandhi Indoor Stadium,

SUVNDHARANEAN.S II / Mech. won the gold medal in 400 mtr event in the Physically

Challenged District Level Athletic championship and he secured Siver medal in the Inter –

District Physically Challenged Competition held at Karaikudi, Alagappa College of Physical

Intramural sports

Department of Physical Education organized intramural sports in a grant manner. The first meeting

of Inter-Department sports was held on 7th January 2016 3.00p.m at Dean Office. The Inter-Department

tournament date was scheduled from 21st January 2016 in the men section. The department conducted

sports and games conducted respectively men section for Ball Badminton, Chess, Handball, Table

Tennis, Football, Kho-Kho, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Badminton, Kabaddi, Hockey, Volleyball, Tennis

and Athletics, in women section 15 sports and games conducted respectively Ball Badminton, Chess,

Tennikoit, Handball, Table Tennis, Football, Kho-Kho, Throw ball, Basketball, Boxing, Badminton,

Kabaddi, Volleyball, Cricket and Athletics. The Inter-Department sports inaugurated by our Dean with Table

Tennis men & women and ended with Athletics men & women. Almost 2000 students participated in the

Intramural sports from the men side 1100 students and women side 900 students. Department also conducted

sports and games for the staff members of AU- BIT campus.

Sports Day

AU- BIT campus grandly celebrated Sports Day on 29th march 2016. The Chief Guest was Anna

University Sports Board chairman Prof.Dr.S.Selladurai delivered chief guest address and distributed the

prizes. He distributed 534 medals for the men section and 447 medals for the women section and 30 trophies.

March – past was also organized in a grand manner. Almost 450 contingents participated in March - past

including 390 students, 30 NCC contingents. Civil department won the overall trophy for the year 2015-16.
