thI am honored to present the 8 annual report of Qatar charity Indonesia (QCI), for the

eighth year of its humanitarian and development activities as an international non-

governmental organization in Indonesia.

During 2013, the works planned and carried out were characterized by firstly, the

continuity of the implementation of range of projects and activities aiming at (1)

alleviating poverty and easing the access to social services for needy communities, and (2)

restoring the life of the disaster victims. Secondly, the focus on 4 main areas which were

Jawa Barat, Banten, Aceh, and Nusa Tenggara Barat; and through the respective planned

programs: Enhancing Jabar Community Development (Enjab Code), Banten Development

(Bade), Sustainable Program for Aceh Community Empowerment (Space), and NTB

Community Development Program (NTB Code program).

The achievements reported in this annual report and the overall activities carried out by

QCI during 2013 are due, among others, to the generosity of our donors, the mutual

cooperation and continuous partnership with our local partners, the continuous support

from our management in headquarters, and last but not least the determination of our

personnel members.

Besides, the active contribution of the targeted community' members, the wisdom of local

leaders and support of government in our working areas have significantly contributed

in transforming our plans into actions, and our projects into real achievements on the

ground.Therefore, on behalf of QCI, we express our deep appreciation, gratitude and thankfulness

for all of them.

QC in Indonesia

Qatar Charity is a non-governmental organization, founded in 1980 for the development

of the Qatari society and other needy communities. QC endeavors to serve all needy

people and communities regardless of their color, sex, religion, race or nationality. For this

reason, QC works in different countries around the world and its activities cover many

countries in Asia, Europe and Africa.

QC entered Indonesia through

participation in the reconstruction and

rehabilitation of Aceh's post-tsunami

in 2005.

QC was officially recognized by the

Government of the Republic of

Indonesia through the signing of the

first MOU on May 18, 2006 in Ministry

of Religious Affairs. Since then, QC

opened representative office in Jakarta

as center of its activities in Indonesia.

The MoU was renewed on July 6, 2009.

While maintaining its previous achievements, QCI continues to implement programs and

activities. From 2006 – 2013, the activities has covered 12 provinces in Indonesia, namely:

(1) Aceh, (2) West Sumatra, (3) West Java (4 ), West Nusa Tenggara (5), Banten (6) Central

Java, (7) DI Yogyakarta, (8) Jakarta, (9) Bali, (10) Bangka Belitung, (11) Papua, and (12)

East Java.

The main programs and activities are related to the field of:

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene: to increase access of poor and vulnerable

communities to clean water and sanitation facilities for better health

2. Education & Culture: to improve the education and cultural services of formal and

informal educational institutions and community development centers.

3. Social Care: to empower vulnerable groups namely children, disable people,

women and poor families.

4. Income Generating activities: to improve quality of life of low income families and

unemployed young men and women by empowering their productive capacity to

generate sustainable incomes.

5. Health Care: to empower local health care services providers, and help people

access to affordable health services

6. Housing: to improve living standards of poor households by providing them the

adequate housing

1. Water & Sanitation

Water and sanitation are fundamental to human development, yet over a billion people

live without safe and reliable water supplies and half the population of developing

countries without proper sanitation. For that reason, Qatar Charity runs water well

drilling and provides sanitation facilities for needy communities.

In 2013, the intervention of QCI within this program was mostly in regular projects.

Besides, during the first quarter, QCI included teachers and school management

workshop as the continuation of Madrasah Sehat project which was initiated in 2012.

Until the end of 2013, QCI has provided 1,794 water wells equipped with electric pump,

tower and a 1000 liter water tank, beside a number of 92 sanitation facilities.

1.1 Regular Projects

The activities focused on providing

water wells and sanitation facilities.

For 2013 alone, QCI provided a total

of 406 water facilities. These projects

are located in West Java (186 units)

Banten (125 units) and West Nusa

Tenggara (95 units). Besides, a

number of 243 water wells were not

completed yet. .

Meanwhile, QCI also provided

47 sanitation facilities. Each

project consist of one water well

and 2 toilets.

1.2. Madrasah Sehat Project

Madrasah Sehat adalah proyek air bersih dan sanitasi berbasis sekolah yang ditujukan

bagi 50 sekolah Islam (madrasah) tingkat dasar dan menengah di Banten. Proyek ini

merupakan bentuk kerjasama dan koordinasi QCI dengan Kementerian Agama RI serta

Dinas Kesehatan Provinsi Banten. Sebanyak 1.,500 siswa dan guru mendapat manfaat

dari proyek ini.

Three main activities were done in this project:

Providing clean water and sanitation facilities, namely one water well, one electric

water pump, one water tank, three units of toilet and one hand washing station for

each school.

Hygiene promotion: health promotion training is also provided for students and

teachers at every school respectively. The training is carried out in cooperation with

the Health Promotion Team of Banten's Health Office.

Providing media kit for in-school hygiene promotion, namely flipchart and 2 kinds of

poster. The messages carried by the media campaign include the eight indicators of

clean and healthy behaviors (PHBs) in the school as prescribed by the Ministry of

Health.

QCI completed all construction items of this project during the first quarter of 2013.

Besides, during 2013, QCI focused this project on capacity building for teachers and

school management through a series of meeting held in cooperation with Provincial

Health Office of Banten.

2. Education & Culture

The program aims at easing the access for the education, improving its services, and

supporting social harmony among communities. The main activities of this program

during 2013 are:.

2.1. Providing Education & Cultural Infrastructures

2.1.1 Mosques

In Indonesian community, mosque plays an important role as center of community

development and social activities. Based on this, from January to December 2013, QCI has

built 46 mosques in various sizes.

A total of 27 units have been 100% completed, while the other 19 units are still under

construction as of 31 December 2013.

Activities:

In line with QCI strategy in this field, most of our activities consisted of rebuilding the old

mosques which were doomed to fall and had poor quality structure. So, most of those 46

mosques were rebuilt within this context in the areas of West Java and Banten.

2.1.2. Multifunction Centers

Multifunction center is a center that is intended to develop primary and secondary

education, health and social services for students, teachers and surrounding community.

During 2013, QCI accomplished the construction of 2 multifunction centers located in

Banjar and Purwakarta, West Java province.

Al Bina Multifunction Center

Al Bina Multifunction Center in Purwakarta is for primary

education and comprises of mosque, school with 6 classrooms,

clinic, two shops, library and laboratory, and green areas.

Al Kautsar Multifunction Center

Meanwhile, Al Kautsar consists of school with 6 classrooms and

one teacher room, a 120 square meter mosque, laboratory and

library, and 2 shops.

Besides, a number of other 3 complexes are still under

construction in West Java as well..

2.1.3. School

To assist students to get the proper place for studying and to push student's motivation to

learn harder and better, Qatar Charity has been constructing school buildings. In 2013,

Qatar Charity completed the construction of four schools. They are:

1. TPA Al Mujahidin, Tapos, Depok;

2. Tahfidz Quran Al Mujahidin, Ketapang, Bandung;

3. Tahfidz Quran Masji Jami, Tarogong Kidul, Garut;

4. Tahfidz Quran at district of Kawalu, Tasikmalaya.

2.2 Educational Services

A better quality of life for teachers & students will improve the quality of teaching and

learning process. One of activities that can support needy students, teachers, and ustadz is

to provide financial assistance.

During 2013, QCI assisted 149 students from junior and senior high school as well as

students of universities. A total of USD 81,215.25 of fund was disbursed for support which

is aimed at enabling qualified students from low income families to pursue their studies.

To support 65 teachers and 57 ustadz, QCI disbursed amount of USD 75,530.66 during

2013.

3. Social Care

The program aims at providing access to basic needs for poor and vulnerable families,

orphans and malnourished children

3.1. Orphan Support

It's one of QCI main activities to support orphans to fulfill their basic daily needs, and to

ease their access to education (primary and secondary education) and health care

services.

During 2013, QCI supported 2,014 orphans in the provinces of Aceh, Jakarta, Banten,

West Java, DI Yogyakarta, and Central Java. The disbursed fund reached USD

1,299,389.43.

3.1.2 Family Support

The support is channeled through regular financial support to needy families in Aceh. This

number increased from 45 families in 2012 to 76 by the end of 2013. The total number of

fund reached USD 70,123.10.

3.1.3 People with Special Needs

QCI developed new program especially addressed to people with special need. It focuses

on assisting them to gain a decent and better life and fulfilling the necessary basic needs.

During 2013, QCI has supported 9 beneficiaries in Jakarta, Banten and West Java.

3.2 Seasonal Activities

Seasonal activities are usually the temporary activities held in specific

period of times in connection to specific events of the year namely

Ramadan and Adahi.

3.2.1. Fast-Breaking

During the month of Ramadan, QCI organized with its own local

partner the iftar (fast breaking) events by providing food for people at

Maghreb time. The activities were conducted in Aceh, Bangka

Belitung, DKI Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta,

Bali, and West Nusa Tenggara for approximately 70,000 beneficiaries.

Furthermore, a number of 1,500 foodstuff packages were provided for

1,500 households or approximately 6,000 beneficiaries.

Also, a number of 200 foodstuff packages and 700 iftar packets were

delivered to the victims of earthquake in Jongok Batih, Beulang Gele,

and Bebesen, Central Aceh.

3.2.2 Zakah

Welcoming the end of Ramadan 1433 H, QCI distributed zakah in the region of Jakarta,

West Java and Aceh. A number of 919 families benefited from this program.

3.2.3. Qurban

Celebrating Eid al Adha, Qatar Charity Indonesia Office (QCI) conducted Adahi program. It

is intended to grow social solidarity and share the joy of Eid al Adha among community.

According to this, QCI provided 285 sheep which were distributed in Aceh, Greater

Jakarta, West Java, and DI Yogyakarta.

3. Income Generating Activities

The program aims at reducing poverty among local communities by developing

productive capabilities of poor households, and assisting them in generating regular

income. Two main activities were held during 2013.

4.1. Establishment of New Projects

QCI developed 27 new projects in the sectors of home industry and livestock.

Regarding livestock, a number of 13 new projects were established for needy people in the

area of Aceh Besar. Thirteen breeding cows were financed for 13 families in the village of

Kaye Kunyet.

While for the home industry, 14 women were supported to establish their own small

project by providing them sewing machines and raw materials such as clothes and

threads. All women here are the only breadwinner in their families.

4.2 Pengembangan Proyek-proyek Yang Telah Berjalan

Sebanyak 22 proyek yang dibentuk QCI sebelum tahun 2013, dikembangkan lebih jauh.

QCI memberi bantuan keuangan gelombang kedua bagi proyek-proyek tersebut.

Tujuannya adalah untuk memperkuat dan memperluas capaian proyek yang telah diraih

sebelumnya. Program ini mencakup 10 proyek industri rumahan dan 12 proyek

peternakan.

5. Housing

The program is aimed at improving living standards of poor households by providing

them the adequate housing. A 45 m2 type of permanent houses are given as grant to

needy families. The house is composed of 2 bedrooms. a living room, a small kitchen and

toilet.

During 2013, three houses were built for 3 needy families in the areas of Purwakarta and

Garut, West Java province, while the construction 10 houses is still ongoing and will be

completed & handed over to 10 families in 2014.

Out of these 13 houses, there are 6 houses which are under construction. These are

located in village of Medana, North Lombok, and provided for victims of earthquake that

hit Lombok in 2013 and destroyed their houses.

6. Healthcare

Through this program, QCI tends to empower local health care services provider who lack

the adequate health facility. The aim is to ease the access of needy communities to

affordable health services in the rural areas.

During 2013, QCI has built 6 clinics in the

provinces of Banten and West Java. Out of this

number, 3 clinics which are located in

Tasikmalaya and Garut are 100% completed,

while the other three were still under

construction as of 31st December 2013.

The size of every clinic ranges between 100 – 110

square meters, each is managed by local

specialized foundation for the benefit of

surrounding people.
