Crayola ColorCycleGrissom Patriots are collecting used markers and
highlighters (any brand) to be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat
homes, cook meals and more! Green collection boxes will be in each classroom and on the bench outside
the Commons. The program can keep tons of plastic out of landfills each year. Remember, don’t throw out
that used marker – ColorCycle it!
IntramuralsBasketball intramurals are held Thursday mornings from 7:45-8:30 am. Please do not come to school
before 7:40 am!
Art Club Art Club members will meet every day
this week after school in the Art Room.
6/7 Boys Volleyball Tryouts
Tryouts for 6th and 7th grade boys volleyball will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 8th from 4:30-6 pm. All potential players will
need to leave school and return at 4:30 for the tryout.
Permission slips are in the rack outside the Main Office.

a decisive 7-0 victory over Tinley yesterday! The team clinched the regular season SWIC
championship and is now 10-0 on the season!

Taffy Apple SaleIt’s that time of year! Taffy Apples are
once again being sold by the Grissom PTO. Both plain and peanut are $3.25 each.
Return your order form with payment no later than Thursday, Oct. 10th. Orders will
be available for pickup on Wednesday, Oct. 30th between 4-6 pm in the Commons. Taffy Apples will not be sent home with
students due to allergy concerns.
6th/7th Grade Girls Basketball Tryouts
Tryouts will be held from 3:15-4:45 on Monday, Oct. 7th and
Tuesday, Oct. 8th.Permission slips are in the rack
outside the Main Office and must be returned by Friday, Oct. 4th to Mrs. Z in Room 124 or to
the Main Office.
Fall Dance
Grissom’s Fall Dance will take place on Friday, October 4th
from 6-8 pm. Tickets will be on sale for $4 during ALL lunches
next week and must be purchased ahead of time. They
will not be sold at the dance! We hope to see you there!!

Ronald McDonald House CharitiesGrissom is once again collecting pop tabs to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities! The pop tabs are recycled and sold for scrap metal. Last year, Ronald McDonald House
Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana raised more than $40,000 from this program. There is a collection box on the bench outside
the Commons for your donations.
Student SupportBefore and after school Student
Support is offered from 8:00-8:35 am each morning, and from 3:10-
4:05 pm Monday through Thursday. You must arrive at the beginning of the session and stay for the whole
time!
*There is NO Student Support onFriday’s after school!
Water Bottle Filling Station Challenge
Last year, Grissom Patriots saved 14,316 plastic water bottles from ending up in landfills by using the
water bottle filling stations located throughout the building. So are this year, we have saved 1,992 bottles from the landfills!
