i. Proper maintenance / up-gradation of the identified Lab equipment as mentioned in the weak areas of the report.

ii. Improvement in the library in following areas: a. Increase in the number of

b. Increase in the number of multiple copies of test books for book bank.

c. Enhancement in the library space.

Further, the re-accreditation for Intake Batch-2015 is also recommended subject to fulfillment of followings conditions by submission of satisfactory compliance report: i. Hiring of more faculty,

particularly one PhD of relevant engineering discipline per section be maintained, including the student teacher ratio with in 20:1 as prescribed.

ii. HoD must be PhD in Civil Engineering Department.

iii. Maintenance and addition of identified equipment in Geotechnical lab; Concrete Lab and Applied Mechanics Lab.

iv. Increase in number of practical in subjects such as CV-316; CV-103; CV-315; CV-111; CV-207 as per PEC guidelines.




v. Improvement in the library in following areas:

a. Increase in the number of

The committee showed serious concern on violations pertaining to increase number of DAEs and high student intake more than allowed by PEC i.e 200 students per year. Further re-accreditation of Intake Batch-2016 is also recommended subject to hiring of at least one PhD faculty registered with PEC in Petroleum Engineering. The Intake is restricted to 50 students per year in single entry subject to employment of faculty to keep student teacher ratio as 20:1 (this decision is referred from the change of scope visit approved in 87th EA&QEC/EAB). Program B.E. Civil (Construction)

Re-accreditation is granted for two years i.e Intake Batches 2012-13 & 2013-14 as B.E Civil with specialization as "Construction Engineering" mentioned on the transcript. Intake batches enrolled from 2014-15 and onwards be also considered as part of B.E Civil Engineering program with specialization in “Construction Engineering” and not as a separate program of B.E Civil (Construction) for the purpose of accreditation, since all the resources (faculty, labs, and infrastructure etc.) are the same. Therefore, all future admissions for this specialization be offered as part of Civil Engineering program and intake be adjusted within the maximum allowable intake for Civil Engineering program i.e. 260 students per year. In case of non-compliance on the decision of 82nd EA&QEC/EAB and decision above, no further re-accreditation visit of Civil Engineering program will be conducted.

Current Status Intake of Batch 2011-12 with specialization in "Construction" as mentioned on the Transcript.



HEI must employ deficient faculty to maintain students-teacher ratio 20:1 including students enrolled in Construction specialization as one program of Civil Engineering. Reference to the NED UET Karachi website, it is observed that University is offering a separate program as B.E Civil (Construction) which has never been allowed/permitted by PEC. In case University desires to launch this program, University needs to follow the process of PEC for launching a new program including the approved curriculum from HEC. The observations/Concern/weak areas identified by the PEC visitation team must be addressed. 08. Dawood University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi

In case of failure, the program shall be completely closed by PEC and the already enrolled students will be allowed for migration to an accredited engineering program of an HEI in the same region, provided that the accepting HEI has the required infrastructure and facilities to accommodate the migrated students. The Committee was informed that as per 86th EA&QEC/EAB decision, accreditation was recommended for One year i.e., Intake Batch 2011-12 only subject to establishment of labs and conducting labs’ experiments by the students.

Decision: The compliance report submitted by HEI was presented before the Committee and after due deliberation, based on satisfactory compliance, one year accreditation was granted i.e., Intake Batch 2011-12 only. Further; as identified, the labs must be established before the next re-accreditation request.

The house was informed that as per PEC 86th EA&QEC/EAB decision, re-accreditation for Intake Batch 2014 of B.E Electrical (Telecommunication/Electronics) program of IoBM, Karachi was deferred and intake from Fall-2018 was also stopped due to serious deficiencies. Further, HEI was advised to submit the compliance report within six months. The HEI has submitted compliance report and requested to review the EA&QEC/EAB decision.

Decision: After detailed deliberation on the compliance submitted by HEI, the house granted re-accreditation for one year i.e Intake Batch-2014 only and was also allowed admission/intake w.e.f Fall-2018.
