ANIMAL DRINKING WATER DISINFECTION DAIRY COWS POULTRY CATTLE TM BlueSense engineered dedicated solutions for animal drinking water. BlueSense technology is based on patented solutions, producing disinfecting agents by converting chloride ions naturally present in the water into powerful disinfectants, either hypochlorous acid or chlorine dioxide. A minimum of 20 ppm chlorides in the water to be treated is necessary to ensure a proper generation of hypochlorous acid or of chlorine dioxide. For waters with lower concentration, brine production equipment can be optionally proposed by BlueSense . Improperly treated water in the agroindustry leads to many issues for farmers such as animal illness and increased mortality, frequent cleaning operations (i.e.: sheds, networks...) and potential animal quarantine. It can also lead to a less water intake by the animals, limiting the volume of milk produced by a cow, for example. The impact can be huge, with a rise in costs incurred, increased water consumption for the exploitation and significant loss of yield. CASE STUDYVroege Dairy Farm Dalen, Friesland, The Netherlands

The farm has 1100 cows under 2 stables (1x 750 cows and 1 x 350). The farm produces about 10 million litres of milk per year.

The drinking water network was equipped in 2015 with an OxAgri XS, to ensure the production of 0,250 m3 per day of ECA water at a concentration of 4,000ppm of free chlorine.

Drinking water : Water comes from a 40 meter deep well and is de-ironed and disinfected with ECA water before being distributed to the animals.

The average daily water consumption varies between 100-120 litres per day per cow. The farm reaches an overall consumption of over 120 000 litres per day (including the calves).

The free chlorine solution is stored in a tank and dosed into the network to disinfect the water supplied to the cows. The ECA water not only protects the animal from any bacterial contamination, but also ensures the disinfection of the piping network, the water tanks and reduces the growth of biofilm.

Water is one of the key vectors for illnesses. Using BlueSense™ OxAgri system will result in less consumption of antibiotics, healthier cows and a higher milk yield from the herd.

Clean in Place :

At the Vroege farm, the ECA water produced is also used to clean the milking parlors hard surfaces to avoid any bacterial development.

OxAGri Working principle : Filtered water is used to prepare a saturated brine

(Salt + Water)

Water is circulated through the electrolysis cell to produce up to 6,000 ppm free chlorine solution.

It is then transferred into the ECA Water tank (Electro-Chemically Activated).

A new brine is produced, softener is regenerated and a new batch is produced.
