The title of PhD thesis is "Radial X-ray backscatter imaging for well integrity inspections". The main topics of the research are:
Designing, modelling and conducting experiments to measure the X-ray backscatter response of a variety of media commonly found in the material construction of oil and gas wells;
Computational simulation of X-ray backscatter within borehole walls;
Development of theoretical algorithms for data processing and 3D-imaging during measurement of X-ray backscatter radiation inside of an oil or gas well;
Development of analytical algorithms for the density reconstruction using measured X-ray radial images of composite dense objects, 2D and 3D rendering of the scanning results;
Design an instrument (in collaboration with Visuray AS) that can generate 3D X-ray image inside of oil-wells;
Development of the scientific software for the processing of measured data produced by radiation detectors based on the semiconductors (CdTe, CZT) or scintillators (NaI(Tl));
Analytical modelling of the response function of the solid-state radiation detectors of X-rays;
Spectrometric testing of the high-temperature ZnSe microstrip X-ray detectors;
