2 WOW! Connections

One summer my family and I got lost in Hale Reservation and my dad, who stayed at home, had to pick us up. Like how Mark and Mr. Maxwell had to spend almost a whole night in the woods.

In No Talking! There are flashbacks throughout the book as well as A Week in the Woods.

LessonThe main lesson of the story is that you need to be

prepared. One way that can show this is that when Mark was doing his shopping online for Week in the Woods he bought a lot of things he didn’t need so that just in case he did, he had it. Another way that can show that you need to be prepared is that Mark needed to take care of an injury, and while he was shopping online before that, he bought a first aid kit online even though he thought he didn’t need one. Those are two ways to show that the main lesson is that you need to be prepared.

QuestionQuestion

The question that brought a lot of discussion to are group was “How would you feel if you were Mark not having enough time to spend with your parents”? This generated a lot of discussion because some kids had gone through something like it others would be really sad and some were just sad. Can you think of a question that might generate a lot of discussion in your group?
