Laura Mulvey believes that the audience view characters through a heterosexual male

Features of the Male Gaze are that the camera lingers on the curves of a female and seen through a males eyes . Relegates women to the status of objects and the female audience are the secondary audience.

Scouting for girls - She’s so lovely

The first shot we see of the woman lingers over her, the pace of the shots change from fast to slow so it can linger over her. This backs up the male gaze theory as the shot lingers on her body.

Later on in the video we see the female being kissed by a man, the look on his face looks creepy and like he is being possessive of her. This makes us look at her through his eyes.

Here is a close up of the female, she is biting her lip which is seen as seductive for a male therefore the female are second hand viewers to the shot.

Finally you can see the men staring at her from behind, this makes you look at her through the eyes of the men behind her rather than looking her through your own view.

JLo - On the floor

In this shot you can see the woman surrounding the men making them look like objects to the man and you see you threw the males perspective. They are also wearing little clothing in bikini making them appear in a sexual way. Finally they are wearing a gold bikini and their body is covered in gold I think this makes them look like trophies for them, again second to the men.

In this shot you see the main artist wearing a leotard that gives the appearance she is naked which is very promiscuous, making her looked at in a sexual way. Also she is shaking her bum which is again in sexual way and for a man to enjoy. Again she is wearing gold which also has the trophy theme, but in this sense I think she looks more like she is being celebrated as a trophy than as a prop to the men. I think this is mainly because she is the star.

This shot is of a male looking at a female his look is very intense and creepy towards what he is looking at. This makes us look at the woman dancing in the next clip through his eyes. Also he is surrounded by woman makes them again just look like props to him.

Kylie Minogue – Spinning around

There is a close up of his bum, it is also in slow motion shot so it lingues over her bum. This is for the males to appreciate. Also as she is dancing it makes it look sexual. Being that close up will also make woman stare at her and maybe make them jealous.

In this shot you can see the performer dancing on the bar in a sexual way, also she is wearing little clothing which doesn’t help. This is for men to appreciate and this is emphasised by the man in the background looking her, you see it more through her eyes due to this.

In this shot you can see the man looking seductively over kylie, this makes her look like a piece of meat and I think you see her through his eyes rather than as herself.

This shot is another close up of her private areas but in this shot you can see even more of her body and less clothes, the shot also lingers over it, again the surrounding of gold makes her look like a trophy and that she is being celebrated for the body, but also in a sexual way.
