Health Sciences, Program for Faculty Development. Develop, implement and
evaluate innovative curricula for healthcare professionals and faculty to enhance
wellness, resilience and meaning in the workplace through mindfulness based
interventions. Programs are delivered by the Program for Faculty Development
through a partnership between HHS, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, McMaster

Performance/Artistic Commissions
1. Frolic AN, Court J. Intraoperative: This 18 minute piece explores the experiences of a patient and
family member as they navigate the emotional terrain of a healthcare crisis. This duet was
commissioned by the McMaster University Department of Family Medicine for an evening length
performance entitled: Osler’s Overtures: an Evening of Music and Movement. Hamilton Place
Studio Theatre, Hamilton, Ontario, September 19, 2013.
2. Frolic AN, Macarthur T, Taylor J, Zazulak J, Taniguchi A. Exam Room Adagio: This 25 minute
piece of choreography was commissioned by the McMaster University, Department of Family
Medicine for performance at their spring retreat. The performance arose from a collaboration
between family physicians (Zazulak and Taniguchi), a contemporary (Macarthur) and hiphop
dancer (Taylor), facilitated by an ethicist/choreographer (Frolic). This collaboration focuses on
exploring the conventions of medical history-taking and physical examinations, and how these
practices are experienced by both patients and physicians. Mar 31, 2012.
3. Frolic AN and Slager V. Body of Work: This 20 minute piece, combining choreography with
poetry and case narratives, was commissioned for performance at the International Congress on
Clinical Ethics Consultation in 2011 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The work explores the embodied
practice of ethics consultation and the impact of witnessing stories of suffering on health care
practitioners. May 20, 2011.
