The word ‘discovering’ in the heading, gives the impression that this article will reveal to the audience new and interesting information about this particular area. This will intrigue the audience into finding out more.

The font used is very sophisticated and stylish which may reflect the tastes of the target audience and the article will therefore appeal to them. This may also establish the texts ideology.

The colour scheme is very simplistic, with there only being white and black used. This establishes the house style. It will also appeal to an upmarket target audience as it reflects sophistication.

There are several images used in this article, this allows the reader to gain more insight into the subject and therefore become more intrigued. The photographs used are flattering towards the area and visually engaging and will therefore help persuade readers along with the article.

The images break up the article as it is makes the page more interesting and visually appealing. The image of the local business owners allows the reader to gain insight to who they are. It also allows the reader to develop a personal relationship as they are both creating direct address in the photograph.

The different adverts will grab the attention of the reader as several images are used as well as bold text and colours. It also gives the reader a range of choices to choose from, which will appeal to the audience. The adverts will also be a source of income for the magazine as it is mot likely free as this is a common convention of regional magazines.

CONCLUSION After researching into feature pages of regional magazines I found the following codes and conventions: • Focuses on local area – The articles will be focused on

events, places and people in the local area. • Images – There is several images used which will help the

audience understand what the article is about. • Title – The title will establish the focus of the article. • Content – They are very informative, in order to give the

reader as much information on the topic as possible. • Colour Scheme – Will be in tone with the magazine.
