MONITOR is a complete ERP system optimized for small and medium-sized manufacturing companies. With more than 30 years of experience, we are the leading supplier of ERP systems in our market segment. The MONITOR system is developed in close cooperation with our customers. As a result, MONITOR is both user-friendly and cost effective. We also offer training, consulting and support services relating to MONITOR. The qualified support and training services form an important element in our customer-focused way of working. Today, the company has more than 100 employees, most of whom are based in our head office in Hudiksvall on the east coast of Sweden. This is also where all our software development is carried out.

All training, marketing and sales operations in Sweden take place under the company’s own management. Outside Sweden, these operations are managed by our own companies or partners. Currently, we have partners in Finland, Norway, Lithuania, Poland, Brazil, Singapore and China.

MONITOR is used by approximately 1,800 companies. The majority of these companies are located in Sweden, but an increasing number of our customers are located in other countries. MONITOR is translated into 11 languages.

Best Customer Satisfaction 2011In the DataDIA 2011 survey, MONITOR received the highest score for customer satisfaction among the approximately 100 ERP systems available in Sweden. The result is based on responses from 3,773 persons responsible for IT or Finance in Swedish companies and organizations with 50 employees or more. Nearly 50 percent of the companies in the target group responded to the DataDIA survey.

Best Functionality 2012In a KPMG survey, where Swedish companies were asked about their level of satisfaction with their ERP systems, MONITOR was ranked the best. The questionnaire was sent to 375 executives within financial departments, 54 percent of whom were financial managers and 28 percent chief accountants – this vouches for the reliability of the survey result. The survey included 54 ERP systems in total. In the assessment of functionality, MONITOR received an average grade of 3.8 out of 5. MONITOR also received the highest score in all the three subcategories: general ledger, accounts ledger and reports.

The Monitor Support Center has 15 employees. Every day this team is supported by 5 to 10 software developers.

Quick FeedbackThe staff is divided into five different responsibility areas in order to provide the best possible service; MPC, Economy, EDI/Shipping, Workshop Info and General system/Installation. You will always be put through to the person who specializes in the aspect of MONITOR that your question concerns. The Support Center is open workdays from 06:00 to 17:00 (CET).

“It is very important that we are available from early in the morning, especially for our international customers from time zones east of Sweden. We have

a policy that no one should have to wait for more than three minutes when cal-ling our Support Center. After the initial contact, the case will be processed and the customers can expect to get feed-back within one working day. Since the share of international customers is increasing, many of the support cases are now handled in English. We also have staff who can serve customers in

for example Finnish and Spanish,” says Catharina Wiklund, Support Manager at Monitor.

Always Close to the Customer“The Support Center strives to work closely to the customer and we have a major advantage in being placed in the same office as the MONITOR soft-ware developers. This enables a fast and efficient support to our customers,” say Catharina.

“If the customer requests, our support personnel can also access the customer’s computer remotely to, for example, troubleshoot or perform a software installation. This is a much appreciated and cost effective solution which saves both time and money for the customer,” says Catharina.

”From our very first contact with Monitor, we got a very down-to-earth and practical impression of the company. We could see that it focused on selling a good product. That, and the fact that the MONITOR ERP system is user-friendly, has few adaptations and is reasonably priced, made the choice easy. The conversion of data was performed by Monitor’s personnel, which guaranteed a smooth implementation of the ERP system. Product Development

Our development department has approximately 30 employees. Each member of the team spends one day a week at the support center. This gives valuable information and insight into how the customers are using the system and what the customers want. This is one of Monitor’s greatest competitive advantages – we can develop and deliver the software that our customers ask for.

Broad Range of Competence“Our department consists of specialists, many of them have a degree in engineering. The specifications for the software are drawn up by a select team who decides what should be developed. A group of developers then program

according to these specifications, after which a number of program testers per-form quality assurance of the software. After testing, new software is translated while the documentation department compiles the user manuals”, says Stefan Olsson, Software Development Manager at Monitor ERP System AB.

Specialists for Best ResultThe development department is divided into four teams, all specialized in different areas of the MONITOR software. Three of the teams focus on finance, MPC (Material Planning and Control) and EDI/shipping while the fourth team concentrates on general research and software development. One major upgrade of the program is launched annually in addition to smaller monthly updates.

Specific Adaptations for Different Markets“Our development department is always involved when Monitor decides to enter a new market. We develop a country-specific edition, which contains the procedures of MONITOR that need to be adapted for the specific market. These adaptations are necessary to follow local legislations, VAT rates, banking details and accounting practices that vary from one country to the next,” Stefan says.

Customized Solutions for More Efficient UseThe Adaptation department at Monitor ERP System AB produces custo-mized solutions and functions for customers. Here, the focus is on finding cost effective, customized solutions to meet customer needs. Sometimes when customers have been using the ERP system for a period of time, they might feel that an adaptation could make their work more efficient.

“It can be a small matter such as changing the layout of an invoice. Forms, special reports and labels are other common areas that require adaptation. In most cases, the customer has already been in touch with our support center to let us know of a specific request, after which we contact the customer. If necessary, we send our personnel to perform a preliminary

study, on which new specifications are based. After it has been approved by the customer, we provide a quote and suggest a timetable,” says Kjell Westman, Adaptations Manager at Monitor ERP System AB.

Future Increase of Apps and Web-Based Solutions?“The department works on several projects of varying scope and scale. So far, the most extensive adaptation the department has created was an integration of MONITOR directly with the production line at a large manufacturing company. As a result, the robot line now reports directly into MONITOR, which means that the ERP system communicates with the robots’ controller systems. Our personnel were present to oversee the implementation and start-up of the adaptation. The tendency in customer specifications right now, however, is to move towards mobile apps and web solutions. Monitor ERP System AB has developed a mobile app available as a supplement, allowing customers to use the CRM and easily connect to MONITOR via their mobile phones,” Kjell concludes.

Implementation and Training

We Help You Get There

Follow-Up / Support It is important to follow up the implementation and to always work with improvements in how to use MONITOR. Our Monitor Support Center is happy to assist you and answer your questions by phone or e-mail regarding the day-to-day use of MONITOR.

Actual Start-UpActual start-up is the main target in the implementation process. MONITOR is deployed and the old system is replaced. In most cases, Monitor personnel oversee the start-up.

Training All users should learn their relevant aspects of MONITOR as based on the preliminary study and project plan. The training sessions take place on-site, relevant to your particular business, and in small groups in a way that best suits your organization.

Conversion of Data If data from a previous system will be used in MONITOR, this conversion is made early on in the project. We have experience of data conversions from most ERP systems on the market.

Pre-Study / Project Start In a preliminary study, you decide how MONITOR should be used in your company. This will form the basis for future training. Adaptation requirements are also identified at this stage, if necessary. A project plan defining schedules and processes is established, after which the project can start.

Adaptations

”When we were replacing our ERP system in 2006, the final choice was between Jeeves and MONITOR. The reason for choosing MONITOR was that most of the reports that we needed were included in the standard package. In the other system, we would have had to customize a large quantity of reports to obtain the necessary decision data. This would have cost us many hours of consulting services. We also felt that MONITOR was an ERP system that we would not outgrow any time soon.

We took a step forward with MONITOR since we feel that it is a system that is easy to operate and maintain. It is advanced without being complicated and almost anything is

possible in MONITOR. Part selection and order selection are small but very useful functions available in the system. We use all functionalities in the standard version of MONITOR and also the supplement Electronic Invoice Management (EIM), which means that we don’t have to handle paper invoices when, for example, authorizing and booking supplier invoices. MONITOR also has a link to a dynamic storage system to make stock management more efficient which is very useful to us.”

SalesTo enable the most efficient possible sales

order flow, MONITOR has combined all these functions in the Sales module. Examples of

features are customer register, CRM and procedures for quotes, customer orders,

delivery reporting, invoicing and accounts receivables. The module is prepared for EDI.

ManufacturingThe Manufacturing module provides everything

you need in order to efficiently plan, run and follow up the manufacturing order flow. This is

enabled by procedures for preparation, pre-calculation/post-calculation, manufacturing

order, loading plan, chart replanning, loading simulation and reject follow-up.

Workshop InfoIn the Workshop Info you work with recording

of work orders and attendance in real time. The procedures in this module concern registered employees, detail planning of

work order, recording terminal, recording adjustment, salary basis, schedules and

salary type tables, etc.

PurchaseThe company’s purchase order flow needs to be planned, monitored and followed up. The Purchase module makes this work easy. Here, you manage, for example, the supplier register, inquiries, purchase orders, order monitoring, arrival reporting and accounts payable. The module is prepared for EDI.

AccountingThe Accounting module is the key to efficient accounting. Procedures, such as chart of accounts, project accounting, report generator for the profit and loss statement (P&L), VAT reports, budget and forecast, are offered within this module to meet all your accounting needs.

InventoryThe Inventory module supports planning, controlling and follow-up of your stock.Examples of procedures that will help youkeep track of stock include the part register,material requirements planning, delivery time check, physical inventory, WIP values,inventoryvalues and traceability. Qualityissues and nonconformities are alsomanaged here.

MONITOR AgentThe MONITOR Agent is a supplement function that allows you to schedule automatic runs of routine tasks. You can also create tasks in the Agent to monitor different events.

Document ViewingThe Document Viewing feature allows you to link to external documents (outside the database), such as drawings and contracts. These documents can then be viewed directly via the record that they were linked to.

EDIEDI is a supplement that makes it possible to exchange a number of EDI formats with customers and suppliers.

EIM EIM is an electronic invoice management, a feature that includes digital loading, distribution and searching of supplier invoices. It is also available as a web-based feature – Web EIM.

Tool RegisterThis feature contains procedures for tool management, for example a tool register, tool withdrawals and physical inventory, all integrated in MONITOR.

Customer Order TransferThe Customer Order Transfer feature provides system support for transfer of orders between sales companies and manufacturing companies. It simplifies the handling when the sales company receives orders from customers and a manufacturing company handles the production.

Management AccountingThis function means that all stock and manufacturing transactions in the system are coded and transferred to the general ledger in MONITOR’s Accounting module. This enables a more accurate follow-up of production finances and reporting from the accounting in the system.

Warehouse ManagementThis supplement supports the management of different warehouses and operational units within the same system. This means that it is possible to work in and administer different operational units in the company.

Product ConfiguratorThe configurator provides system support for the management and combining of different product designs. With a basic design as the starting point, you can create complete variants based on your own parameters. You can then calculate prices and create manufacturing orders for the variants.

MONITOR MobileMONITOR Mobile is an application for mobile phones and tablet computers. It gives an overview and direct access to information in MONITOR.

MONITOR PDAMONITOR PDA is a hand-held device application that allows certain MONITOR procedures to be run from hand-held devices usingWindows Mobile.

MONITOR Web - shopThe web shop provides a simple way for your company to offer customers easy registration of customer orders, allowing them also to trace order status and history and also to access current product information.

Simplifies Your CommunicationMONITOR-to-MONITOR is a feature used to facilitate the communicationbetween companies that use MONITOR. For example, when you send or receive an order or an order confirmation via e-mail in MONITOR, an XML file is attached that the recipient can register in his/her MONITOR system. You import the file by dragging and dropping it (using the mouse pointer) directly from the e-mail message to MONITOR.

Your CRM on the GoMONITOR Mobile is an application for mobile phones and tablet computers. It helps you to efficiently get an overview of the CRM and to obtain direct access to MONITOR. The application allows you to access information about customers, quotes, orders, and parts, and you can also view key figures about your company from MONITOR.

Rimaster AB is a leading supplier of cable harnesses, electrical cabinets, electronics and cabs for special vehicles and industrial systems. Rimaster today has about 600 employees operating in seven com-panies worldwide. The company has expanded considerably since 1998 and has almost doubled its number of employees. Rimaster has managed the challenges involved in such an expansion together with MONITOR.

What has made you remain loyal MONITOR users for so long?“We have been using the MONITOR software since 1998. MONITOR supports our business, our users are satisfied and the user interface is good,” says Tomas Stålnert, Vice President, Operations, at Rimaster.

Any adaptations needed are created by Monitor’s programmers and it is a huge advantage that those who create the adaptation also know how the software works. We never have to involve a third party if we need an adaptation,” says Per.

What aspects of MONITOR do you use in your business?“The companies within the Rimaster group use all features in MONITOR and one of the companies also use the Product Configurator. The MONITOR Agent supplement is used by the entire group. We couldn’t manage without it,” says Per. “We also use MONITOR-to-MONITOR – both between the companies within the group and with our external suppliers. Using MONITOR-to-MONITOR within the group saves us a lot of time,” Per concludes.
