1st March, 2018 Message from the Principal Dear parents, staff and students, Sign in procedure Principals are responsible for all visitors who enter the school grounds. As such, parents who visit the school during school hours for any purpose other than signing their child/ren in or out of school are asked to visit the office to sign in and obtain a visitor sticker. Parents will also be required to sign out prior to leaving. In the case of an emergency, this process ensures that we have a record of all individuals on the school premises. Your support in this matter is greatly appreciated. Staff car park Parents are again reminded that the staff carpark is not to be used as a drop off or pick up point for their child. Furthermore, it is not to be used as a thoroughfare as there is significant risk involved with vehicles reversing and moving in and out of this area. Only parents who have a valid ACROD sticker are permitted to park in the disabled parking bay within the staff carpark. Student Arrival Time Students who arrive at school after 8.40am are classified as being late. Students who arrive after this time must obtain a late note from the office prior to going to the classroom. Being late to class is disruptive for the student, the classroom teacher and the class. Classroom doors open at 8.30am and this is the recommended arrival time for students. This will allow students sufficient time to organise themselves for the start of the day. Parent support with this is appreciated. National Day Of Action Against Bullying The eighth National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence will be held on Friday 16th March. On this day Australian schools stand united in saying, Bullying! No Way. The day also highlights their everyday work to counter bullying and violence and reinforces the message that bullying and violence at and outside of school is not okay at any time. In recognition of this message, students are encouraged to wear a white shirt (no offensive logos or statements) to school on the day. Harmony Day Harmony Day will be celebrated on Wednesday 21st March. Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. The message of Harmony Day is ‘everyone belongs’ and it aims to engage everyone to participate in their community, respect cultural and religious diversity and foster a sense of belonging for all. To recognise this important day, students are invited to either dress in a traditional costume from their heritage or wear an orange (the official Harmony Day colour) shirt/t-shirt (no offensive logos or statements). Please note that this is not a free dress day. If your child does not have a traditional costume or an orange shirt to wear, they are required to attend in school uniform. East Beechboro Primary P&C Thank you to all the parents who attended the P&C AGM on Monday. I would like to welcome and congratulate our newly elected P&C committee. President - Donna Linden Vice President - Ally Schaumann Treasurer - Lindsey Milieri Secretary - Katrina Mallon Uniform Shop Coordinator - Jesmond McGregor On behalf of our school community, I would like to sincerely thank our exiting P&C President, Rose Elliott, the P&C Committee and members for their hard work and dedication in helping the school bring the best possible learning experiences to all of our students. Parents Photographing and Recording at School Events Technology has enabled the ability to take photographs on a variety of devices which has increased the difficulty in monitoring photographing/filming practices. Parents who attend school events such as sport carnivals and assemblies are permitted to take photographs and video recordings for parent/student own use but not for publication or upload, unless you have the express consent of the individuals who appear in the image. Please be mindful of this and when taking photos/videos and try to limit this to your own child only. Public Holiday Parents are reminded that this Monday, 5th March is the Labour Day Public Holiday. School will resume for students on Tuesday 6th March. I wish you all a very enjoyable long weekend. Over the holidays, we had a large shelter installed on the school oval. This was installed over the playground and has provided students with a play area and seating that is protected from the sun. A special thank you to our P&C for applying for the State Government Community Grant which was spent on the hard top shade structure. Thank you also to Mrs Page in the front office for coordinating the installation.

NAPLAN - 15th - 25th May 2018 Students in Years 3 and 5 at East Beechboro Primary School will take their NAPLAN tests online this year, with the exception of Year 3 Writing which will still be taken on paper.
