Dear Bidder,We welcome you to our auction house. Please note the points below to assist you with the registration, bidding and payment at our auctions.

REGISTRATION FOR BIDDING:If you are registering with us for the first time or have not bid successfully in the past, we require a deposit of HK$50,000. If you intend to bid more than HK$200,000 the deposit may be higher. The deposit will be deducted from your invoice should your bid be successful. If you are unsuccessful, your deposit will be returned by the same means by which it was paid. In addition we will ask for your bank and trade references.

We encourage new clients to register for bidding at least 48 hours prior to the commencement of the sale to allow sufficient time to process the registration.

Prior to the auction, some lots may be designated as “Premium Lots”, which means a deposit may be required before placing a bid on the item for sale. Information will be posted on our website in such an event.

Spink have the right at our own discretion to refuse admission to our premises, attendance at an auction and decline submitted bids.

Extensions requested on account of condition will not be accepted for expert opinions.

PAYMENT METHODS:Payments should be made by the registered buyer and not by third parties, unless it has been agreed upon at the time of registration that you are acting as an agent on behalf of a third party.

Payments are due within seven days after the date of the sale unless it has been confirmed to you in writing since July 2013 that you are an approved credit client. It is the responsibility of the buyer to be aware of any import duties or import restrictions in the final destination. Spink will not accept return of any package in order to avoid these duties.

HF - High FillThe standard level for young wines or older bottles recorked at the Chateau.IN - Into NeckPerfect level for a wine of any age. Indicates very good storage conditions. Wines more than 15 years old of age with fill levels of between 4cm to 6cm are generally consid-ered to be sound provenance, though consideration should be given to the clarity and colour of the wine in the bottle, as well as the condition of the cork.Burgundy bottles with fill levels lower than 6cm may be at risk of being damaged or undrinkable.

< 2 cm considered an excellent fill for any age< 3 cm a perfectly normal fill for wines 10 years of age or older. Spink Fine Wines is honored to present on behalf of a gentlemanan impressive Macallan 麥卡倫 Gold Label “vertical collection” from 1965 to 1980

All bottles lying in Hong Kong.

For reasons not even Science can wholly explain …

Whisky has always matured best in oak casks that have contained sherry. Due to increasing expense and scarcity, other distilleries no longer insist on sherry casks. THE MACALLAN DIRECTORS DO.

Journeying annually to the bodegas of Jerez, they buy fresh oak casks into which they pour mature, carefully chosen sherries, then keep them for two further years in Spain before having them shipped over to be filled with whisky. The results are shown partly in the Macallan’s rich golden colour, partly in the ‘nose’ and wholly may we venture in the tumbler.

17The Macallan Coronation BottlingIn Celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's Coronation

A limited edition commemorative release from The Macallan featuring two quite different, 35cl bottles of sherried Speyside whisky. Only 1953 bottles have been produced for the UK market to mark the 60th anniversary of Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953, with the Windsor red, blue and gold packaging having been designed by David Holmes.

The golden whisky features an iconic photo of the Queen in 1953, taken by Cecil Beaton, and was matured in American Oak whilst the bottle with the deep bronze (mahogany in the bottle) hue features a portrait taken by Julian Calder in 2004 and is matured in European Oak casks from Spain.

Cecil Beaton Bottle (58.1%)Nose: Initial Sherry gives way to lightly salted cashew nuts, Sun-Maid raisins and orange oil. Wine gums and banana develop on a rich, syrupy nose.Palate: Dignified but creamy oak and spice with sultanas. Creamy Wine Gums again on the tail with a little water.Finish: Pleasing, subtle oak and a touch of cherry.Overall: Majestic.

Julian Calder Bottle (55.7%)Nose: A sweet, rich start becomes more substantial with dark oak notes and honeycomb. A little water opens this up for fuller, rich, dark Christmas cake, dates and demerara.Palate: Oak intensity is saved by exquisite espresso. Again, water helps here, revealing prunes, dates and tobacco.Finish: Long with oak and cocoa.Overall: Magisterial.

This Macallan 1946 is rather unusual, in that it was made with peated malt due to the high post-war prices of coal. It also happens to be one of the greatest Macallans ever release. It is recognized as a classic Macallan.

Distillery bottling, a scarce bottle of Ardbeg from a 1975 cask which scored 9 out of 10 from the late famous Whisky writer Michael Jackson.

Karuizawa (軽井沢) Distillery

Karuizawa Distillery was established in 1955 in the foothills of Mount Asama (淺間山), an active volcano north-west of Tokyo, to make a single malt whisky in as traditional a manner as possible.

At 850 mteres above sea level, the distillery is the highest in Japan; low temperatures and high humidity provided an ideal micro-climate for whisky production. The Karuizawa Distillery ceased production in 2000, and was officially closed in 2011. Therefore Karuizawa became one of the legendary single malts no longer produced in Japan.

Karuizawa whiskies have received numerous awards in the recent years and because of their extremely limited avail-ability, they are heavily sought after by private collectors.

30Karuizawa 1969 Vintage 42 year old Cask #8183, a truly hand-crafted malt, distilled Dec 1969 and bottled Aug 2012

Very few 1960’s casks of Karuizawa have been rescued from this lost distillery, the oldest one dating back to 1960. This one is a 400 litre ex-bourbon cask, most likely the oldest of this type.

Nose: very bold bourbon oak influence. Different sorts of warm wood, sandalwood, cedar from cigar boxes, some thuja … This kind of oakiness is elegant and matches the oriental character, there’s also varnish and solventy notes. Leather. Underneath it has apricot jam, yellow plums and vanilla-coated berry cake, touches of mint, with floral overtones.

Mouth: this is where the wood starts to show more astringency. Fruits are now heavily infused fruit tea. Slightly tangy ginger and clove as well, a little coconut oil. Unfortunately also a planky note which coats your mouth and a little tobacco sourness. Orange peel. Spruce needles, again some flowery touches.

Finish: long, quite floral and heady. Mint and traces of the apricot jam.

Karuizawa is Japan’s smallest whisky distillery, produc-ing just 150,000 litres of spirit a year. It is situated to the west of the town of Karuizawa, which is a popular mountain resort for Tokyo highflyers. Karuizawa whis-ky is rare, due to the low production capacity and the distillery prides itself on its use of traditional whisky making methods. They import Golden Promise barley from Scotland, which was historically the most com-mon barley used there and mature their whisky mostly in sherry casks imported from Spain. The water used in production has flowed through or over the volcanic lava rock and soil that surround the distillery, giving it a unique quality. Early releases were mostly blends appearing under the ‘Sanraku Ocean’ brand name.

Sweet and smooth, blackberry, nicely integrated alcohol, dusty, smoked bacon, balancing acidity and some tannin, great length (of dark red fruits). Spink Fine Wines and Buyer hereby agree to the followingterms and condi-tions for auctions conducted by Spink FineWines:

1 The BuyerThe highest bidder shall be the buyer at the ‘hammer price’and any dispute shall be settled at the auctioneer’s absolutediscretion. Every bidder shall be deemed to act as principalunless there is in force a writ ten acknowledgement by SpinkFine Wines that he/she acts as agent on behalf of a namedprincipal.

2 The PremiumThe buyer shall pay to Spink Fine Wines a premium of 22% ofthe ham mer price on all lots.

9 Remedies for non-payment or failure to collect purchasesIf any lot is not paid for in full and taken away in accordancewith Condi tions 4 and 7. or if there is any other breach ofeither of those Condi tions, Spink Fine Wines as agent of theseller shall, at its absolute discre tion and without prejudice toany other rights they may have, be entitled to exercise one ormore of the following rights and remedies:-(a) to proceed against the buyer for damages for breach ofcontract;

(b) to rescind the sale of that or any other lots sold to thedefaulting buyer at the same or any other auction;

(c) to re-sell the lot or cause it to be re-sold by public auctionor private sale and the defaulting buyer shall pay to Spink FineWines any resulting deficiency in the ‘total amount duel (afterdeduction of any part payment and addition of re-sale costs)and any surplus shall belong to the seller.

(d) to remove, store and insure the lot at the expense of thedefault ing buyer and, in the case of storage, either at SpinkFine Wines or elsewhere;

(e) to charge interest at a rate of not exceeding 2% per monthon the ‘total amount due’ to the extent it remains unpaid formore than 7 working days after the day of the auction;

(f) to retain that or any other lot sold to the same buyer at thesame or any other auction and release it only after payment ofthe ‘total amount duel;

(g) to reject or ignore any bids made by or behalf of thedefaulting buyer at any future auctions or obtain a depositbefore accepting any bids in future;

11 Unsold LotsSpink Fine Wines reserves the right to charge commission upto one- half of the ‘stated rates’ calculated on the ‘reserveprice’ and in addition ‘expenses’ in respect of any unsold lots.

12 Spink Fine Wines sells as agent for the seller and as such isnot re sponsible for any default by seller or buyer.

13 Any representation or statement by Spink Fine Wines in anycatalog as to authorship, attribution, genuineness, origin, date,age, provenance, condition or estimated selling price is astatement of opinion only. Every person interested shouldexercise and rely on his own judgment as to such matters andneither Spink Fine Wines nor its respective staff or agents areresponsible for the correctness of such opinions.

14 While the interests of prospective buyers are best served byatten dance at the auction, Spink Fine Wines will, if soinstructed, execute bids on their behalf, neither Spink FineWines nor its respective staff or agents being responsible forany neglect or default in doing so or for failing to do so.

15 Spink Fine Wines shall have the right at its discretion torefuse admis sion to its premises or attendance at its auctions toany person.

16 Spink Fine Wines has absolute discretion without givingany reason to refuse any bid, to divide any lot to combine anytwo or more lots, to withdraw any lot from the auction and incase of dispute to put up any lot for auction again.

17 (a) Any indemnity under these Conditions shall extend to allactions, proceedings, costs, expenses, claims and demandswhatever incurred or suffered by the person entitled to thebenefit of the indemnity.(b) Spink Fine Wines declares itself to be trustees for itsrespective relevant staff and agents of the benefit of everyindemnity under these Conditions to the extent that suchindemnity is expressed to be for the benefit of its staff andagents.

18 Any notice by Spink Fine Wines to a seller, consignor,prospective bidder or buyer may be given by pre-paid mail inHong Kong or Macau or airmail outside Hong Kong andMacau and if so given shall be deemed to have been dulyreceived by the addressee one week after posting.

19 These Conditions shall be governed by and construed inaccordance with Hong Kong law. All transactions to whichthese Conditions apply and all matters connected therewithshall also be governed by Hong Kong law. Spink Fine Wineshereby submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kongcourts and all other parties concerned hereby submit to thenon-exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kong courts.

20 In these Conditions of business:-(a) ‘catalog’ includes any advertisement, brochure, estimate,price list and other publication; (b) ‘hammer price’ means theprice at which a lot is knocked down by the auctioneer to thebuyer; (c) ‘total amount due’ means the ‘hammer price’ inrespect of the lot sold together with any premium, andadditional charges and expenses due from a defaulting buyer inHong Kong dollars; (d) ‘sale proceeds’ means the net amountdue to the seller being the ‘hammer price’ of the lot sold lesscommis sion at the ‘stated rates. and ‘expenses’ and any otheramounts due to Spink Fine Wines by the seller in whatevercapacity and howsoever arising; (e) ‘expenses’ in relation to thesale of any lot means Spink Fine Wines’s charges and expensesfor insurance, illustrations, special adver tising, packing andfreight of that lot.

21 The headings in these Conditions do not form part of theConditions but are for convenience only.

NOTICE

BidsIf instructed, Spink Fine Wines will execute bids, and advisethe intending purchaser. Lots will always be bought as cheaplyas is allowed by such other bids or reserves as are on Spink FineWines’ books. Bids may be placed in writing before thecommencement of the sale by giving to Spink Fine Wines a bidform for the lot, duly filled in with the name, contact phonenumber(s), full address of the buyer, number of the lot, andamount of the bid in Hong Kong dollars. All bids when placedby telephone are accepted only at the sender’s risk, and mustbe confirmed to Spink Fine Wines in writing, or by facsimile,before the sale.

Clearance of PurchasesIn order to avoid delay in clearing purchases, buyers unknownto Spink Fine Wines are advised to make arrangements beforethe sale for pay ment or for references to be supplied. If sucharrangements are not made, checks will be cleared beforepurchases are delivered.

Purchase by Non-ResidentsPurchases made by non-residents in Hong Kong may beexported on the instructions of the buyer at his expense.Payment shall be made in the full amount equivalent to thesuccessful bid in Hong Kong dollars. Ship ping instructionsmay be given upon payment to Spink Fine Wines.

Please note some lots are marked EU to indicate that they arelying within the European Union tax free for export from theircountry of origin.

Applicable local tax and/or duty will apply for local deliveryoutside of Hong Kong.

Currency ConverterA currency converter will be operated at our auctions but onlyfor the guidance of bidders. All foreign currency amountsdisplayed are ap proximations based on recent exchange rateinformation and may not be relied upon to calculate anyinvoices or statements. Upon receiving yourwritten instructions, our representative will make every effortpossible to try to acquire the lot(s) of your choice at the lowestprice possible, and never to exceed the top limit you indicate.This service is complimentary and with strict confidence. SpinkFine Wines offer this value-added service as a convenience toour clients who are unable to attend the auction, however,Spink Fine Wines will not be held responsible for error,omission or failure to execute bids.

PLACING ABSENTEE BIDSTo place bids, please use the absentee bid form provided in thecatalog. Be sure to accurately record the lot number(s) and thetop price you are willing to pay for each lot “Buy” bids will notbe accepted. Always indicate a “top limit” - the amount towhich you would bid if you were attending the auctionyourself

Alternative bids should be indi cated by using the word “OR”between lot numbers. If your bid on an early lot is successful,we will not continue to bid on other lots for you. Or, if yourearly bids are unsuccessful, we will continue to execute bids foralternative lots until a bid is successful. Bids must always beplaced in the same order as the lot numbers appear in thecatalog.

Each absentee bid form should contain bids for one auctiononly; the auction code number should appear in the top left-hand cor ner of the form. Please place your bids as early aspossible. In the event of identical bids, the earliest received willtake prece dence.

TELEPHONE BIDSBids may be placed by telephone, but are accepted subject toSpink Fine Wines’ discretion and are at caller’s risk. At the solediscretion of Spink Fine Wines, telephone bids may berecorded. By bidding on the telephone, prospective purchasersconsent thereto.

BUYER’S PREMIUMThe “top limit” you indicate on your bid form is for thehammer price only. A 22% buyer’s pre mium will be added tothe suc cessful bid price for each lot you buy and is payable byyou.
