Thevideoprocessbeganwithmee4ngRichSilacciandincludedinputfromtheDairyScienceDepartmentandstudentpeersintheDairyCalfManagementEnterprise.Ren4ngavideocameraattheCalPolyTechnologyCenterwasnecessarytofilmlivefootageandmovingshotsofnewborncalves.Filmingtheactualprocesswasvital.Onceborn,thecalfremainedwithitsmotherun4lallcameraequipmentandseFngswereadjustedandsetup.AIer30minutes,thecalfwasmovedtoaseparatepen,andmotherwasmovedintothehospitalpentobetakencareofandmilked.Filmingtookplaceasthecalfunderwentvaccina4ng,naveldippingandeartagging.Thevideoalsoshowshowtomakesurethecalfhasawarmbedofstrawandinstructstoputafrozenbagofcolostruminthepasteurizer(UMass,2016).Videocompila4onwasthelaststepofmethodology.AllfootagewasdownloadedontoaUSBanduploadedtoareliabledesktop.Disregardedvideosegmentswithoutpurposeandplacesignificantfootageoutinthecorrectorderofcalfcaresteps.Ligh4ng,voicerecordingandfluidityoftheselectedvideoswereimportantfactorstoconsiderforqualityvideocomple4on(Fauer,2001).AllvideofootagewasimportedtoiMovieandeditedun4ladesiredvideowasobtained.Thecompletedtutorialandinstruc4onalvideowasexportedto.movcompa4blefiletypeandsharedwiththeenterpriseadvisorsofutureDairyCalfManagemententerpriseclassescanlearnfromit.

Successfullyraisingdairycalvesisnotonly4meconsuming,italsocontributestothefutureoftheherd.Thereareseveralfactorscontribu4ngtodairycalfmanagementimmediatelyaIerbirthandonward,importanttoproperlycareforacowandcalf.Knowingwhatissuestoaddressinwhatorderbecomescri4cal.StudentsoIenlackconfidenceincomple4ngthetasksrequired,includingthetypeofcolostrumthatisfed,medica4onsneeded,andoverallpropernutri4on.Thesefactorsmakeforahealthysurvivalrateindairycalves(Penn,2016).Currently,theAnimalScienceDepartmentatCalPoly,SanLuisObispo,offersaDairyCalfEnterprise.Thisenterpriseallowsstudentstogethands-onexperiencewiththenewborncalvesandrequiresimmediatea^en4ontoproceduresinstantlyaIeracalfisborn.Thepurposeofthisprojectistoproduceaninstruc4onalvideoregardingDairyCalfManagement.
Introduc4onTheoutcomeofthiseduca4onalvideoprovedsuccessful.Researchwasconductedtounderstandthecrucialstepsfordairycalfmanagementanditwasimportanttoadvocatetostudentstheimportanceofproperdairycalfmanagement.Studentswereeducatedontheprocessesandproceduresneededforafuturehealthyherd.Essen4ally,atutorialvideowascreatedwherestudentswillhavetheopportunitytowatchandlearnthestep-by-stepprocessofdairycalfmanagementattheCalPolyDairy.Adownloadabletutorialvideofilethatgivesstudentstheopportunitytogobackandviewitiftheyareunclearoncertainprocedureswillbeprovidedtostudentsenrolledinthecourse.Changestoenhancevideoqualitywouldbetoincorporateothervideoequipmentsuchasastabilizer,tripodandmicrophone.Addi4onalmodifica4onsincludeusingFinalCutProforamoredetailedvideoedi4ngsysteminsteadofiMovie.Furthermore,addingmorevideofootageofmul4plecalvesbeingborncouldsolidifyessen4alhandlingproceduresaswellastakingintoconsidera4ontheproceduresofmanagingabullcalf.Lastly,improvingthevideoqualitybyahigherresolu4oncameraandabe^ervideoedi4ngsystemwouldbeimpera4ve.TheDairyCalfManagementvideowillbemadeavailableonline.TheprofessoroftheDairyCalfEnterprisewillbeinpossessionofthevideoinordertoaidstudentstovisuallyunderstandhowtheprocessofcalfmanagementshouldbeexecutedproperly.Thisvideoismeantforinstruc4onalpurposesatCalPoly,asit’sspecifictotheuniversitydairy.Itisnotrecommendedtopostonlineforpublicviewing.
