Commanders Message July was a fairly quiet month for the Post after all the activities in June. Independence Day saw a good crowd at the Post that day as we grilled burgers, brats and hot dogs. August 31st is the end of our membership year and renewals have started already. Annual members need to renew by Sept 1st to remain current with their membership. We will be gearing up for the fall festivities leading into our holiday season. We will be having a vote at the August General Member-ship Meeting on changes to the Post Constitution and By-Laws. In October we always have Hal-loween Parties, and then Novem-ber brings our Veteran’s Day Ser-vice at the Memorial Wall by the courthouse. This year the parade will be the same day as the cere-mony. I will need volunteers to assist in setting that up. That leads right into our Meals-0n-Wheels for Thanksgiving and Christmas along with our Christ-mas Party. Check out the calen-dar and our website for other up-coming events. Yours In Service Craig Sarrasin Commander
Auxiliary President Boy is it HOT out there!!! I hope everyone is staying cool this summer. Don’t forget school starts August 17th so please watch out for the kids in the morning standing outside wait-ing for their buses. We have a box at the post next to the pull tab machines for any donations for local school kids who cannot afford school supplies. Some of the things you can pick up are: scissors, crayons, pencils, paper, glue, folders, erasers, highlight-ers, rulers, pencil bags or boxes. We would really appreciate it if while you are out shopping if you could pick up some of these supplies and bring them to the post. I know the kids would ap-preciate it as well. Thank you in advance for your help with this yearly program that we do. If you have any questions you can contact me or our Child Welfare Programs Officer Carrol Bleigh. I would like to thank everyone who came out and participated in our Family Game Day. I was a great success. This is something we are going to do every year, however, we will be changing the date for next year so it is not so hot outside and we will be able to enjoy ourselves a little bit more. We will also be changing the charity every year as well. And a special thank you to Ron

We have a lot of things coming up in the next few months at the post. Please keep your eyes open for flyers and things in the calen-dar. Our next meeting will be 1 September @ 6:30 pm at the post. I hope to see you there. Yours in Service, Duan Marie Byrd Auxiliary President

Many thanks to all the folks that put in so much effort for the Fam-ily/Game Day, good time, good food. Speaking of effort…on1 Aug and every 1st Saturday of each month we will be having a work party (Not work camp) starting at 0800 and will include a lunch for the folks that help out. As you all know there are always things that need done and there will be a list posted for both inside and outside so we can be productive no matter the weath-er. Please come out and help, re-member, this is YOUR post, help us all be proud of it. Last but not least we have one more re-quest. There are a number of people that willingly sacrifice their time and effort for so many things around here to be a suc-cess, one of which is the Wednesday night bin-go. Please be respectful, consid-erate and thankful that they are there for your enjoyment. As al-ways don’t forget the suggestion box, good, bad, ugly, or other-wise. Thank you and hope to see you at the Post. Bill Hafner, Chairman
Riders Not much news from the Riders side of the house. We are still working on our annual USO Pok-er run, which will be held on the 19th of September. I would like to solicit the help of Post mem-bers to help obtain raffle prizes and auction items for the event. I know we all frequent local busi-nesses on a regular basis. On you next visit ask for a donation, any-thing would be appreciated. Horse Races on the deck are also still in the planning stage and hopefully we can do that some-time in October. I would also like to welcome are two new members to the Riders, Paul Mercer a new member to our Post and Jill Holstein a member of Post 78 in Valp. I’m positive both Paul and Jill will be an asset to the Riders. Again feel free to approach me with any question/concerns about the Riders.

August already, where is the year going? I know you're getting ready to send the kids and grand-kids back to school, but remem-ber to stop by the Post to keep up with the activities going on there. With the kids going back to school, you may also want to take a look at continuing your educa-tion. Many colleges and universi-ties are offering scholarships, in-cluding UWF. This isn't just for the Veterans, it's for family mem-bers too! Flyers are on the bulle-tin boards, take a look. Keep doing those programs, and report them!
