MUNIX Member AnnualGeneral Meeting

What is MUNIX?

• Alberta Municipal Insurance Exchange “MUNIX” formed January 1, 2002

• Licensed reciprocal insurance exchange under the Insurance Act of Alberta

• Created by members of AUMA to serve their insurance needs‐similar to self insurance or deductibles

• Non‐profit insurance that is member owned and member governed

MUNIX 2014 claims

• Property: $6M from 175 claims including wind damage, hail, and water leaks

• Liability: $2.7M from 400 claims such as slip and fall, sewer back up and planning  & development applications

• Collision: $686,000 from 131 claims including motor vehicle accidents and hail

• MUNIX is regulated by the Alberta Superintendent of Insurance

• Annually licensed under Alberta Insurance Act

• In 2013 Superintendent adopted Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Guidelines
