ABOUTGALLOWAYACOUSTICS
3
Galloway Acoustics' standard rectangular silencers are manufactured from pre-galvanised steel sheets and constructed in accordance with DW 144 and as per the construction specification shown in the table below. The longitudinal joints are grooved/pittsuburg seam filled with mastic sealant. Due to the splitter casing being riveted to the main attenuator case creating an inherently stiff component, intermediate stiffeners are only used on attenuator lengths over 1800 mm as required. The silencers are available with stainless steel and aluminium casings, MS and with corrosive coating for Marine applications.

ACOUSTICSPLITTERS
Galloway attenuators have aerodynamically shaped bullnose fairings on the front and back of the splitters for a reduced pressure drop. The baffles have rockwool infill material of 45 kg/cu.m density a minimum installed compression rating of 5% and a retained 22G thick expanded metal/perforated sheet facing to avoid erosion of fibres at high velocities. The infill material with a black glass tissue facing is inert, non-combustible, non-hygroscopic, vermin proof, rot-proof and does not support bacterial growth.
Availabe Models:
Galloway Acoustics currently has 55 different silencer configurations, A1 to A55, with a melinex equivalent, A1M to A55M for each type. The silencers are available in a standard length of 600, 900, 1200, 1500, 1800, 2100 , 2400 2700 & 3000 mm.

CA/CPA – SPG The addition of SPG on the code denotes the use of spigot connections in preference to the internal flanges or nut inserttype.
CAXT 1 & 2 SILENCERS/CROSSTALK
The units are manufactured with spigot connections on each end to fit into most standard ISO duct systems. Their main purpose is to provide high levels of cross talk privacy between adjacent rooms served by a common ductwork system, whilst producing a negligible additional pressure loss on the system.
CYLINDRICAL SILENCERCONSTRUCTION
Different people have varying degrees of tolerance to noise.
Galloway's silencer selection is based on customised requirements and is tailored taking into consideration the required applications and permissible levels of noise. The NR (Noise Rating) and NC (Noise Criteria) levels sound curves can be used as a guide to estimate the optimal indoor environment for hearing, communication and noise annoyance.

STANDARDDRAWINGS
ACOUSTIC &NON-ACOUSTIC LOUVRES
Galloway Acoustics has designed a range of acoustic and non-acoustic louvers to accommodate all potential applications.
All the acoustic options have been tested at Aalford University to comply with UKAS accreditation standards.
Acoustic single leaf or double leaf louvered doors can be manufactured from either the 150mm or 300mm deep design but in both cases due to practical space and weight restrictions, these are only offered as a single bank option.
Alternatively, a non-acoustic louvered door can be offered with a back blanking plate to match louvre banks that require the acoustic performance of a double bank design.
12
ACOUSTIC DESIGN
Noise Reduction-defined as used to define the performance of a noise barrier. Established by measuring the difference in sound pressure levels adjacent to eachsurface.
The acoustic performance figures for our standard range of acoustics louvres are based on sound insulation (Sound Reduction) accredited test as per BS EN 140-3.
Sound Reduction Index - Defined as a set of values measured by a specific test method to establish the actual amount of sound that will be stopped by the material, partition or panel when located between two rooms.

FIG D - Multi Section Louvre Assembly MSW/MSH
The standard maximum single unit dimensions are 2400mm wide x 1800mm high for either the 150 or 300 depth design. The units above these dimensions will be manufactured as multi-sections on the width (MSW) or height (MSH). For larger louvre banks, the unit can be both MSW and MSH. Individual louvre sections are bolted together, through the side panels, using m8 fixing and secured to the structure, also via the side panels, using fixings suitable to the structural surround. The required bottom sections are strengthened to support the weight of the top units.

ACOUSTIC ENCLOSURES & SCREENS
Galloway Acoustics' enclosures/screen systems are based on five standard panel designs, coded 1 to 5, type 1 being of the lowest acoustics performance and type 5 the highest. The differences between panel 1 and 5 are created by the application of varying infill components into the standard panel thickness.
The panel types 1 to 5 can be incorporated into three construction systems for different applications.
H-FrameA cost-effective industrial enclosure/screen system a with versatile number of panel connection methods.
PentapostA High acoustic performance system with a quality aesthetic appearance. Used primarily for an enclosure/screen system that requires architecturally pleasing details (fixing can be hidden) coupled with good acoustic performance.
Frameless/Site Assembly SystemThe primary application for this system is internal construction, which requires differing aesthetic finishes applied to the internal/exposed panel face such as audiology rooms, recording studio, music practice rooms, and permanent room partitions. Other applications include large industries such as automotive spray paint booths.
GeneralThe acoustic performance of both the H-Frame and Pentapost designs have been tested using a 75mm thick panel for all five panel types. The frameless/site assembly system was tested using a 100mm thick panel, across all five panel types. In our opinion and as indicated during these tests, the difference in panel performance for the same panel type from 75 to 100mm is marginal and as such performance figure for 75mm panel can be used where a 50mm panel thickness is required.

Table 1 Octave Band Static (0m/s) Insertion Loss to BS4718 1971Test method BS 4718 1971 does not define or require the testing of dynamic insertion loss. ISO 7235 1996 defines dynamicinsertion loss but does not class testing of this as compulsory. Both standards require the testing of static insertion loss, inletand outlet flow generated air noise and silencer pressure loss due to airflow.
