Webinar #1 Agenda Welcome and Introductions Overview of Next Steps Funding Resources gotoservicelearning.org Summer of Service

Stage One: CEC will conduct a needs assessments of participants in the 12 Featured Communities professional development to identify the challenges they face as they integrate and sustain quality service-learning in their schools and communities. We will also determine the criteria for participants to be selected to engage in the National Forum.Stage Two: Three webinars will be held during April and May to respond to participants’ needs and increase their understanding of school climate, effective leadership to support and sustain quality service-learning. These webinars will engage SEANet members and will be open to participants from each of the 12 Featured Community trainings, including teachers and administrators who are working to advance service-learning in their school.

America’s Promise Alliance Professional Development Plan

Stage Three: Participants will be encouraged to join a professional learning community associated with the Go To Service-Learning.Com web site and infrastructure that provides a space for participants in the webinars to share the implementation experiences, reflect on lessons learned and create a collaborative environment in which new ideas are nurtured.

Following participation in each webinar, participants will be asked to submit a written reflection activity which will guide planning and capacity building at the local level. Successful completion of the webinar series and subsequent reflection will be required in order to be eligible to attend the National Forum.

America’s Promise Alliance Professional Development Plan

Stage Four: The National Forum, June 23 – 25 in Washington, DC, will further develop local leadership by building upon the skill set developed over the course of the past year through the in-person trainings, online webinars, and professional learning community interactions. Participants will engage in a series of activities that will meet the identified needs related to the critical elements for sustainability: vision and leadership, curriculum and assessment, professional development, school-community collaborations, and continuous improvement. In addition they will have access to national and local service-learning leaders and organizations.
