One way loop along Market Street and Lichfield Street with a spur to the Rail Station.
Due to high costs and disruption to local businesses this was not progressed.

Since then a simplified more direct route has been developed. This places twin tracks along Pipers Row The tram will then turn right onto Railway Drive There will be a terminating stop at the Rail Station. The stop at St Georges will be retained for some off peak services.

The Wolverhampton Interchange is a mixed public and private sector development based in Wolverhampton
This will encourage much needed private investment in the area The development includes:
• A new state of the art rail station• Leisure offering - 57,000 square feet and a 100 room hotel• Grade A offices - 297,000 square feet• Expansion of the multi-storey car park to 1000 new spaces
This represents over £100m worth of investment and is forecasted to bring 1400 jobs
The first phase of this should commence on site in 2014
