Working with the SDM

The Software Deployment Manager (SDM) is the standard tool that is used to install J2EE components on the SAP J2EE Engine. The SDM is a client/server application. The SDM Server runs on the SAP J2EE Engine side. This server is started automatically with the J2EE Engine. A graphical user interface is available as a client.

At a time only one user can log into the SDM.Multiple logon is not possible.

Once we logged into the system, we will get the below screen.

SDM Repository

It contains the registered Software Component Archives (SCAs) and Software Deployment Archives (SDAs) The SDM Repository tab on the initial screen gives you an overview of the installed target systems and the archives they contain. The following target systems are possible: File system Database J2EE Engine When expand the target systems node, we can see the SCAs and SDAs that are assigned to the corresponding target systems.

Deployment

Using Deployment tab to deploy new software packages with the Software Deployment Manager (SDM).

It takes us through the individual steps, from selecting the Software Component Archive (SCA) and the Software Deployment Archive (SDA), to actually deploying the software in the target directory

Undeployment

It is used to remove installed applications from the J2EE Engine.
