Reignite  OMOIYARI,  Share  Happiness  -‐  Happenings  in  BRIDGE  CLUB  Hong  Kong

By  Matthew  Wong,  2016  PA,  BC  Hong  Kong    On   27th   August,   BRIDGE   CLUB   Hong   Kong   (BCHK)   held   its  Annual   General   Meeting   starting   with   a   summary   of   the  28th  APCC  by  PA  Matthew  Wong,  and  the  JA.  Our  delegates  had  an  awesome  time  in  Fukuoka  and  we  specifically  shared  our  joy  and  new  passion  to  strengthen  the  linkage  between  our  new  and  existing  members.      Up   next   was   teatime,   allowing   all   of   us   to   freely   talk   with  each   other.   Ice-‐breaking   games   then   followed   to   facilitate  bonding   between   members.   The   meeting   ended   with  members   taking  a  video  showing  all  of  us   saying  a  Cantonese   (the   local   language  of  Hong  Kong)   tongue  twister  for  a  mini  inter-‐BC  activity.      Marking  the  15th  year  of  BCHK,  we  also  announced  the  first  ever  publication  of  a  BCHK  internal  newsletter,  co-‐edited   by   our   newly   elected   sub-‐committee   members   and   the   Executive   Committee.   It   will   feature  articles  by  past  JA,  a  recollection  of  the  28th  APCC  journey,  and  reports  on  reunions  of  our  members—be  sure  to  catch  it  once  it  is  released!    We  also  decided   to  organize  a   cultural  exchange   session  between   Japanese  young  people   in  Hong  Kong  and  our  members   to  both   introduce  APCC  and  BCHK,  as  well  as  provide  a  valuable  opportunity   for   local  cultural  sharing.      "The   journey  of  a  thousand  miles  begins  with  one  step,"  Lao  Tzu,  a  renowned  Chinese  philosopher  once  said.     Participating  in  the  APCC  was  the  first  step,  sharing  about  it  among  BCHK  members  was  the  second,  and  continuing   to  spread  our   joy  and   the  OMOIYARI   spirit,  will  be   the   third.  We  are   the  Bridge.  We  will  build  it.
