Your Employer Brand is one of those functions of business that

requires a genuine team, as there are very few people who will

have gained the diversity of experience to do it alone, and in

truth the scope of the project is far too large to be effectively

delivered by one person. This is the Anatomy of the Perfect

Employer Brand team.

The Leader This doesn’t have to be the most senior person in

the ensemble, as long as you have board level

backing for your Employer Brand.

The person you are looking for is charismatic and visionary.

They will understand the company, its employees and have a

clear idea of where the whole thing is moving. It helps to be

inspirational, but the real inspiration will come from the

Employer Brand itself, and this in turn will inspire a legion

of Employer Brand Ambassadors striking a vanguard into

the talent pool.

The Administrator Someone who records, diarises, organises

and generally brings process together.

Very importantly, adds accountability to the whole thing. And

they should recognise this as their role. Not one for the faint

hearted. A kind of Deputy Sheriff of Employer Brand town.

The Creator Let this one daydream, they will

focus on the big picture

and the strategy.

This is where the spark of everyone else’s genius ignites.

Don’t bog them down with actually doing any of the delivery,

unless you want it late.

The Number Translator Let this one turn raw data into meaningful information.

If you are doing your research properly, there will need to be

someone in the group who can turn the raw data into

information regular people can understand. And preferably

deliver it on pie charts or witty Venn diagrams.

The Designer Let this one daydream, they will focus

on the big picture and the strategy.

This person knows how to put things together, to order and

organise for maximum effect. Let them be a little

temperamental, pedantic and exacting. They only want

what’s best for the project and everyone involved.

The Jack of all trades Want something done and don’t know

where to look? Then pass it here.

This resourceful team member will know how to, or will know

someone who can. Just be very clear on what you want and it

will happen, and don’t ask too many questions either.

The Critic This iconoclastic team member will be

casting perceptive eye over the whole project.

When everyone else is getting caught up in the fervour, this

iconoclastic team member will be casting perceptive eye over

the whole project, questioning everything and leaving

nothing to chance. Others will doubt this member’s loyalty to

the team, but you’ll know that they are just ensuring that you

all deliver what the brief has promised, and if a few egos get

bruised along the way, so be it.
