Rourou (Food basket) = My philosophy

Rourou

• A rourou or food basket is for one to put kai (food) into

• The strands that have been woven in and out of the rourou has been used as a visual to demonstrate my philosophy of classroom management

• These are; te reo & tikanga, manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, ako, and holistic

Kai

• The kai is the food that goes into the rourou

• The kai represents my strategies which are part of my philosophy and give a form of sustenance for my future students

• They are; positive learning environment, the ripple effect, overlapping, smooth transitions, routines & protocols, eye contact, signals, questions, withitness, scanning and moving the space and meeting in a circle

Iwi

• Iwi means a tribe of people, and is the overall goal for this whakatauki

• The iwi represents my future students and are the essence of my kaupapa (topic)

• Students are the recipients of what I put into my rourou (food basket)
