OVERVIEW: Mabton is located in the fertile Yakima Valley approximately 43 miles southeast of Yakima,
Washington. Mabton School District maintains a vision to “engage people in rigorous, stimulating, and invit-ing learning experiences that result in all students graduating with the abilities to be successful in college, work, and life. We believe everyone can learn and achieve at high levels given appropriate instruction, sup-port and relationships.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS: The school district currently has AVID elective sections in grade 8-11 with plans to expand to grade 7 and 12. The GEARUP program at Mabton currently offers services to two grade levels. Each grade level is a different grant, offering the same services The programs provide services throughout the academic year and summer. The services range from college visits, career exploration, college fairs, tutorial services, college and financial aid application awareness and assistance and a summer program.
Note: The Measurement of Student Progress (MSP) and High School Proficiency Exams (HSPE) are a series of tests designed to assess and drive academic performance within the state’s K-12 system. MSP exams are administered for grades 3-8, HSPE exams are for 9-12.
