Veterans Day  is the day set aside to honor all those who have fought in defense of the United States.

It was originally known as

“Armistice Day” - the day

World War I ended at 11:00 a.m.,

November 11, 1918.

(The 11th hour of the 11th day

of the 11th month.)

The first Armistice Day ceremony was held in the United States

in 1921.

That day an unknown World War I American soldier was buried in

Arlington National Cemetery at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Throughout the historyof America men and women

have answered the call to serve their country.

For many, it cost them their lives.
