Many physiologic and psychological changes occur during this period, enablingnursestoplaymajorrolesinassessment,comfortpromotionand education.Protectingawomanshealthasthesechangesoccurisimportantin preserving her future childbearing function and for ensuring that she is physically well enough to incorporate her new child into her family. Although the puerperium is usually a period of health, complications like hemorrhage,particularly,uterineatony,(whichwasthecaseofmypatient)can occur,whentheydo,immediateinterventionisessentialtopreventlong-term disability and interference with parent-child relationships. Forthiscasestudy,theaimsareasfollow:1.)Iwillhavebetter understanding of postpartum hemorrhage by reading books, articles and journals thatarerelatedwiththedisease;2.)understandclearlythepathophysiologyof thedisease,riskfactors,manifestationsandtreatmentandmodalitiesofthe disease;and3.)equipmyselfwithskillsandhealthteachingsthatare appropriateforthecareofpatientswithpostpartumhemorrhage,particularly uterine atony. II. HISTORY AND PHYSICAL ASSESSMENT A. PERSONAL DATA C. Li mi n The patient is Ms. X. She is 21 years old, born on December 16, 1993,from F. Legaspi St., Pasig. She is a Filipino, single and of Roman Catholic faith. Ms.XisapurebloodedBicolanawhosemainconcernistomakea livingforherfamilythatswhyshemovedtoManila,andatpresenttosave money for her future delivery. She works as a casheir at small-scale restaurant in Mandaluyong. Her partner works as part-time construction worker. Ms.Xandherpartnerarereligiousthattheyseetoittheybothgoto churcheverySunday.TheybelievethatGodmustbethecenteroftheirfamily.
