Using new technology to develop independent language learning in the network’s schools.
Autorap
Turns any voice recording into a rap – you select a tune, record yourself
speaking and the app turns it into a rap !
What I used it for?Who with?
• Make up own rhymes/poems/songs using a range of topic and structures previously learned :
Greetings / family relationships/ hair & eyes colours/ ‘I am’ / ‘Who are
you?’• Producing a creative piece of writing/speaking. • Link with a school in the South of England.
• Year 4 class : 1 hour/week since September.
• 1 lesson.

Planning and preparation
• Made my own ‘rap’ and played it to the children to set the scene. (

• Listening task.• Gap fill text : Brainstorm and whole class
examples. • Working in pairs and practicing speaking their
rhymes.

What I used it for? Who I used it with?
• Describing an outfit you would like to wear using the verb ‘porter’ (je porte), nouns for clothes and adjectives of colour.
• Year 5s
Planning and preparation • Nouns for clothes: listening > repetition activities>
speaking.• Simple sentences with ‘je porte’ and a connective (et).• Adjectival agreement : regular/irregular. • Lots of listening/reading based activity to drill the
structure.• Write own description based on a picture I gave
them/drawn picture. • Talking to partners to practice describing their outfit
orally before the recordings.

• Engagement & motivation. • Great for practicing speaking ( - 30 sec recording
only). • Any topic.
Youtube videos : going on virtual trips.
• Paris No words video, fast paced.
• Tour Eiffel: Let’s take a tour of the Eiffel Tower with a French guide.
• Tour de France Great as an introduction to the race, France (geography, etc.).
Other Apps
• PuppetPals2 – create animated cartoons (storytelling)
• Pic Collage – project/investigation work
• Tellagami – create an animated characters & record a message.
