SharePoint prompts for user name andpassword, every time when user tries toaccess files in SharePoint document library

Problem is limited to MS Office files (Word,Excel, etc.). PDF and non-Microsoft Office filesare OK

Even when user enters valid credentials andchecks “remember my credentials” checkbox,the dialog box keeps reappearing

PROBLEM

You need to add your SharePoint site to your trusted sites zone list and change custom security authentication

SOLUTION

A. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options.B. From the pop-up window, choose Security Tab. Once there,

click on Trusted Sites, then Sites button.

STEP 1

A. In the window that comes up from previous Step, type in full web address of your SharePoint site (i.e. http://www.yoursite.com), click Add and hit Close

STEP 2

A. Lastly, while still in Internet Options screen, hit Custom LevelButton Security Settings – Trusted Sites Zone window will pop-up

B. Scroll all the way down and click on Automatic logon with current user name and password radio button (2nd choice from the bottom). Click OK twice to close the remaining windows
