Where we are……transitioning between
old, sporadic data collection techniques…
…to one central, complete database.
We are expanding our database efforts to include information provided by the Connecticut State Department of
Education; including teacher’s BEST scores and K-12 pupil data.
The New TNE-Neag Database
Single Oracle server holds information for individuals automatically
through multiple user-friendly interfaces accessed
through the World Wide Web.
What information is stored in the TNE-Neag Database?
Student admission information Clinic placement records Testing records E-portfolios Post-graduate employment and address Internship/Inquiry project Survey data
Ultimate Goal: To have all Neag School of Education data stored in one central location on the Oracle server.
How accurate is the data?
TNE and Neag have implemented advanced software to ensure: Unique Identifier assigned by University PeopleSoft System Data is verified upon entry Cross-checking data is constant Human error is kept at a minimum
With so much information, how is the database designed?
The TNE-Neag database is broken down into several manageable modules.
Each module is built piece by piece, data can be entered from multiple locations.
Each new item of information is linked to an individual identified by a unique number, assigned by
the University PeopleSoft system.
Information can then be extracted about individuals
to produce clean, streamline, accurate reports.
How do we view the data?
Biographical Academic Academic detail Post Graduate
Where we’re going… Complete web-based data collection and analysis
All user interaction through web browsers
Ability to follow students from entering university through entire teaching career
Building a relationship with Connecticut school systems, allowing researchers and policy makers access to anonymous data regarding both teachers and pupils
Forging our partnership with the Connecticut State Department of Education to develop a state-wide database linking teachers to pupil performance
For TNE, UConn, Connecticut Schools, Connecticut Educators, and most importantly, Connecticut’s students.
