Application Process

ND Financial Aid Application Process

• Free Application for Federal Student Aid

(FAFSA)

– Required for consideration for all federal financial aid

programs

• CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE

– Required for consideration for need-based

institutional scholarships

• Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC)

– Document collection service used to collect and

image supporting documents for verification (e.g. tax

returns, verification worksheet, etc.)

Priority Filing Dates

• February 15, 2016

– Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

– CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE

• March 1, 2016

– Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC)

Be Prepared

• Gather the following information for yourself and

your parent prior to beginning your applications:

– Social Security Number

– Most recent federal income tax returns, W-2(s), and

records of other taxable income

– Records of untaxed income

– Bank statements and records of investments

• The FAFSA and PROFILE are “smart”

applications

IRS Data Retrieval Tool

• You Tube: IRS Data Retrieval Tool

• Applicant may submit real-time request to IRS for

tax data using FAFSA on the Web (FOTW)

• IRS will authenticate taxpayer’s identity

• IRS sends real-time results to applicant in new

window

• Applicant chooses whether or not to transfer data

to FOTW

• Data Retrieval Tool will be available February XXX
