China Limits European Contacts In the 1600s and 1700s, there was general peace and prosperity in China. Life improved for most Chinese due to improvements in nutrition. However, the Chinese response to the Europeans forced them to limit themselves.

•Why might the Chinese be limited as a response to the Europeans?
