• Additions to the latest version of D2L

• The purpose of posting grades on D2L

• How much do you want to do in D2L

Grade Basics

You will see these major features in your grade page.

The first page you will want to visit is the “Set-Up Wizard”

Set-Up Wizard

• 7 steps to the wizard

• The wizard allows you to:

• Choose your grading system (points, percentage etc…)

• Decide whether your students can see the final grade

• Calculate your grades (how you treat dropped items etc…)

• Choose a grade scheme

• Decide how many decimals you want displayed

• Set your display options (how much you want to let students see)

Grade items and categories

• In order to organize your grading materials you will probably like to create categories and grade items for your grade book

Example

• Grade Category: Attendance

• Grade Item: Week One

Entering Grades

• D2L gives you many options for entering your grades (which is why I imagine it gets confusing!)

• One of the best ways to enter your grades is to export your grades to excel, work on them in there and import them back

• This will save you the hassle of going in into each individual student and their grade items and manually inserting grades!

Conclusion

• You can make your grade book as simple or complex as you like!

• Your grade book should be easy for YOU to use!

• Your grade book should let your students know what THEY need to know!
