29th July - 06 August ’17 17th Sunday in OT Week 1
Message from Fr Prem: As you noticed, and as I did preach to you, last few Sundays I have been con-centrating of a bit of house keeping. In the parish newsletter and in my sermons I have reflected upon matters that concerned the smooth functioning of the parish and doing wonders. As I said, with a bit of helping hand, with a bit of positive support and encouragement we can do wonders, and we shall!! The spirituality is drawn from the kingship of Christ which is not lording over us but shouldering with us, standing by and accompanying. The principle is; if we cannot help or do anything about it lets not then complain. It is not supervisory roles, telling what to do and not to do, but rather doing the job is what is required. If there is something that needs doing lets do it ourselves. Surly I would need your help and thank you for all the help you give and standing by, you have done. As I said, and promised, with bit of your help, your care concern and love we shall do wonders! So brace yourself and see what you could do and how you could enrich the parish with your gifts and talents and your outlook for the parish. I am sure you would want more than just receiving form the parish, be it priestly services or opportunity for your children to grow and achieve skills or any other. But I am sure nothing will trump your love and care for the Lord and for the church. You come to church not because you want to receive or simply fulfil a reli-gious obligation, but to give all that you can, and that is your very life to the love of the Lord. We reflected upon that we would want to be a very welcoming parish, supporting each other and showing much and concern. Very specially we would want to welcome all those who are new to the parish and those searching for a parish to belong to, and those visiting during summer and other times. We shall take an extra effort to introduce ourselves and the parish and welcome them. A nice way to do so would be, when you see new faces and people standing next to you not known to you is to invite them for some tea or coffee in the parish hall and even take them on a little tour. I am sure there may be ones who have not been to the hall, not seen our beautiful picture of the family of St Thomas More or our fully equipped hall kitchen. Do do invite them. Take the lead, take the step. On the same note may I also invite those new to the parish and those who have been here for some time, yet feel not belong to or welcomed as one would expect, also to make the extra effort to introduce yourself and try move with everyone in the parish. It is surely the fault of the fallen nature of our human state that we cannot escape been man or women, dark, brown (which I like to call gold!!) or white, Brit-ish, Irish, Indian, African, Bengali or the sole Sri Lankan!! We are very comfortable in our circles, but can we be brave enough to break the barriers. Can we be brave enough to involve others in the services we provide in the parish. Even when we cannot understand fully each other, can we still break the barriers!!
PRAYER TO THE HOLY TRINITY FOR THE PREPARATION OF MASS Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, come to us and renew us as we gather to celebrate this Sunday Mass. As we continue our pilgrimage of life, help us
to become better Christians on earth so that we may rejoice with you for ever in Heaven. To the Holy Trinity be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
