BIOGRAPHYEve McGrath is a versatile soprano with a wealth of experience in classical, operatic, choral, and folk singing.Starting her career as a choral singer, Eve has held choral scholarships at The Oratory, Birmingham, and St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London. With a high voice and pure tone, Eve is regularly in demand to sing the soprano solo in Allegri’s famous Miserere mei, Deus at church services and in concert. At the age of 24, Eve sang one of the most dramatically and vocally demanding roles in the operatic repertoire - The Queen of the Night, from Mozart’s Magic Flute. Eve briefly resumes this fearsome role tonight as she sings the famous Der Hölle Rache, most often referred to as “The Queen of the Night aria”.As part of Irish folk group Inis Éire, Eve sings and plays the fiddle. The trio performs folk, trad, and pop covers at ceremonies and gigs in and around Bedfordshire.

BIOGRAPHYBanding in Kidlington has a long history, with references in local newspapers going back to at least 1840. Kidlington Concert Brass was formed in 1992 when the century-old Kidlington Silver Band combined with Oxford Concert Brass to produce a new band. With Catherine Underwood at the helm the band established an enviable reputation in the Championship Section over the next two decades, including an appearance at the Royal Albert Hall in the final of the 2001 National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain.

In 2013 the band went on tour for the first time in 14 years to Scotland. In 2016 the band launched the Kidlington Concert Series, hosting three concerts a year for the local audience, and providing an additional opportunity for high quality music to be heard in Kidlington.

2018 was an exciting year for the band, with a return to competing in the championship section following strong results in 2017, and a year of good results has seen us retain our position there for another year. 2018 also saw our concert series continue to grow with some exciting programmes and a growing audience. 2019 sees another year of concerts and contest, both locally and further afield. Easter will see the band return to Edinburgh, 6 years on from our last visit.

Fantasia on British Sea Songs – Rule, Britannia!Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves!

Britons never, never, never shall be slaves. When Britain first, at heaven’s command,

Arose from out the azure main, This was the charter of the land,

And Guardian Angels sang this strain: (Chorus)

The nations not so blest as thee Must, in their turn, to tyrants fall,

While thou shalt flourish great and free: The dread and envy of them all.

(Chorus) Still more majestic shalt thou rise,

More dreadful from each foreign stroke, As the loud blast that tears the skies

Serves but to root thy native oak. (Chorus)

Thee haughty tyrants ne’er shall tame; All their attempts to bend thee down Will but arouse thy generous flame, But work their woe and thy renown.

(Chorus) To thee belongs the rural reign;

Thy cities shall with commerce shine; All thine shall be the subject main, And every shore it circles, thine.

(Chorus) The Muses, still with freedom found,

Shall to thy happy coasts repair. Blest isle! with matchless beauty crowned,

And manly hearts to guard the fair. (Chorus)

Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves! Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

SING-A-LONGJerusalem

And did those feet in ancient timeWalk upon England’s mountains green?

And was the holy Lamb of GodOn England’s pleasant pastures seen?

And did the Countenance DivineShine forth upon our clouded hills? And was Jerusalem builded hereAmong those dark Satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!Bring me my arrows of desire!

Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!Bring me my chariot of fire!

I will not cease from mental fightNor shall my sword sleep in my hand

Till we have built JerusalemIn England’s green and pleasant land

Pomp and Circumstance & Land of Hope and Glory

Land of Hope and Glory Mother of the Free

How shall we extol thee Who are born of thee? Wider still, and wider

Shall thy bounds be set God, who made thee mighty

Make thee mightier yet!

God, who made thee mighty Make thee mightier yet!
