Accessibilityresearchshowsthatpeoplevalueavailabilityneartheirhomes,andreliabilityenroute,morethanspeedintransit

Publicpolicytranslatesthisintocommitmentstohigherquality,higherdensity,urbanismwithmorePT-richtransportstrategies

But,asindividuals,weprefertheimmediateaccesswithinlowdensityspatialrealitiesaffordedbycars,e-hailingandevenMBT

Implicationsofstakeholderviews

StopsubsidisinglongestdistancePTcommuting;prioritisethosePTmodestowhichpeoplehaveshowntheywillactuallytransfer

Acceptthatpublicpreferencesforconvenientmobilitywithinlowdensityurbanareasmustcontinuetobebecateredfor

Seektocommunicateinherentcontradictionsbetweendesireforhigherqualityurbanlivinganddemandsforpersonalaccess

Initiateongoing,broad-based,stakeholderconsultationsaroundtheurbanfuturewewantandtheinvestmentchoicesinvolved

Whatparametersweneedtobeabletomeasurebetterinfuture

Toassistthisbroad-basedindaba,transportprofessionalsandacademicresearchneedtoimprovemeasuresofthefollowing:
