The Season of Giving
Thank you to those of you who helped to make our
Dollars for Turkeys Drive such a success. We raised
$1480.00 for the families at Summit Hall Elementary School. This enabled us to purchase enough
Giant Food gift cards to help 25 families enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. What a generous community
and a wonderful lesson in sharing for our students. We have started collecting coats for our annual
Winter Coat Drive. This project will continue through January 31, 2019. The need is great for
new or like-new, clean winter coats in both children’s and adult’s sizes. New warm socks, hats,
scarves and gloves are also needed in children’s sizes. Donations may be deposited in the marked
boxes located in the foyer outside of the office. All donated items will be delivered to the Linkages
to Learning office at Summit Hall Elementary School and distributed to the students and their
families. Travilah Elementary School is also a collection site for Toys for Tots. Donations of new,
unwrapped toys and games may be dropped off in the foyer outside of the school office. The toys
will be picked up by Mr. Abbott, MCPS bus driver and transported to a Marine Corps depot for
distribution. Please consider giving your support to the U.S. Marine Corps’ worthy cause of
providing toys to children this holiday season.
Colder Weather and Jackets
Please make sure to put your child’s name in his/her winter coat, hat, and gloves. We
have many jackets that look the same, and we want to make sure your child actually
has his/her own coat. Also, if the coat is misplaced, we can easily return it to the
proper owner. Thanks for your help with this issue! If you are missing a jacket,
please stop by the lost and found.
Lost and Found There are many coats, hats, and gloves in our Lost and Found. Please remind
your students to check the Lost and Found in the cafeteria. Any items unclaimed
in Lost and Found on December 21st will be donated to Summit Hall ES over
Winter Break.
