Mrs. Flack looking super!
berkshirees.bcps.org We Learn. What’s Your Superpower? January 12th, 2016
Baseball
By: Xavier Swieczkowski
What a surprise, Adam Jones was crowned baseball man of the year
because he was the best player in Major League Baseball. A sad part is that
Chris Davis might not come back because they are not giving him enough
money. Another good thing for the Orioles is that Manny Machado got his
2nd gold glove and he hit 35 home runs all through the season. The Orioles
had sad parts and happy parts at the end of the season. They did not make it
to the World Series, but they won 81 games and lost 81 games.
I hope next season will be better than this season. However, the
orioles might have to get a new player next year. Chris Davis was the best on
the team one year because he hit the most home runs. Oriole fans are
wondering if Chris is going to leave and who the team is going to pick up to
replace him. The Mets are different than the Orioles because the Mets did
make it to the playoffs and they did very well. However, the Royals beat
them in The World Series. That makes the Royals the best baseball team in
2015. Congratulations to the Royals for winning The World Series. This is
what happens when you work as a team.
Football By: Jaiden Weinreich
A huge shocker. Last year Baltimore had a 10-6 record and this year they have a 4-9 record. All of these players got injured: Joe Flacco Terrell Suggs Steve Smith Sr. and Dennis Pitta It has been a really tough season. There’s no way the Ravens will make it to Super Bowl 50. Hopefully next year will be better!
Miss Fox to Mrs. Flack
By: Carmen Coco and Andrea Selby
Have you ever wondered about new teachers? Well if you
have, you should read this article. This is about Mrs. Flack and what
she does, how she teaches and a lot more. After you read this you will
know Mrs. Flack better than ever before.
Mrs. Flack likes to teach because she says, “I learn something
new every day and I like to learn new things.” She also likes kids.
Her favorite subject is reading because each time she reads she learns
something new. Mrs. Flack said she was inspired to teach because she
had awesome elementary teachers. Next, she said she is both strict
and not strict. It all depends on the day.
Mrs. Flack said she did not teach at other schools, but she did
substitute. She started teaching in 2013. Mrs. Flack did not pick the
grade that she wanted to teach, but if she could have, she would have
picked 2nd or 3rd. She got lucky that the school picked 3rd. On a scale
of 1 to 10 Mrs. Flack said her job is a 10, so that means she really
loves her job. When she was little she played school. Lastly, she likes
to go to movies, play sports and likes softball and kickball.

Madam Secretary
By: Evelyn Keyes
Ms. Borsella is the secretary of the P.T.A. She has
helped our newspaper grow so much by getting us a
professional camera and special hats to use. Because she has
helped us so much we want to put the spotlight on her.
When asked what her favorite color is she said “purple,
because I have liked it for years.” Let’s start with something
more interesting about Ms. Borsella. For fun, Ms. Borsella likes
to spend time with her grandchildren. She has a dog named
Gigi. She also has 2 daughters named Heather and Tiffany. Ms.
Borsella said, with enthusiasm, that her favorite sports team is
the Baltimore Ravens. She decided to join the P.T.A because
she wanted to help the school and the children. If she could go
anywhere in the world she would go to Hawaii because she
thinks it’s beautiful and wants to see it personally. The last
movie she saw in the movie theatre was Minions. She said she
loved it and it was a very cute movie. She loves Thanksgiving
because she has a lot of blessings to be thankful for and she
loves to eat. The thing she loves the most about the P.T.A is
the awesome people she gets to work with on the board.
Finally, Ms. Borsella hopes that Berkshire will do very well and
be the best school in the county.
A Special Thank you!
Thank you, Ms. Borsella, for all you
have done. You have been so generous and
supportive and we are extremely grateful.
Besides The Newspaper Club, you have
helped so many students and families in the
Berkshire Community. You are truly one of a
kind and have made a real difference. We
hope that this article has shown our
appreciation.
Sincerely,
The Berkshire Bugle Staff
What Does Ms. Hall Do Outside of School?
By: Alora Fisher and Jasmine Dreves
This is an article about Ms.
Hall’s life outside of school. Ms.
Hall has a lot of friends but her best
friend is her dog. In Ms. Hall’s free
time she likes to hang out with her
dog. She has worked at Berkshire for
8 years, and worked 25 years with
Baltimore County. Ms. Hall has 3
kids; 2 girls and 1 boy. Her favorite
movie is ''The Wizard of Oz''.
The thing she likes about her
job is working around kids because
she likes to be around children.
When Ms. Hall isn't working she
likes to ''just hang out, eat together
[with family] and get a laugh''. Ms.
Hall's job gets difficult when spills
happen, students get sick and
children mess up the bathrooms.
Help make Ms. Hall's life easier and
stop writing in the bathrooms.
Donuts Love Reading!
By: Keon Braxton
On October 23rd, 2015,
Berkshire students had Donuts
with Dads in the gym and the
cafeteria. Berkshire does
Donuts with Dad so all the kids
can eat donuts and read with
their dad. Mr. Bryan said he
likes chocolate donuts and
Tarren said she likes
strawberry donuts. Madison
said she likes Harry Potter
books and her dad likes sports
books.
Make sure you thank
the PTA because they helped
get the donuts. You should also
thank Ms. Brooks for inviting
the dads to share donuts with
us.

What’s Your Superpower?
By: Clara Goetzinger and Cadence Jackson
Can you guess what our school moto is this year? It’s “We Learn…What’s Your Superpower?”
That’s why we’re asking who your superhero is and what superpower you have. If there is anyone that
really means something to you, they could be your superhero. Do you know who your superhero is? It could
be your sibling or best friend, you never know! Maybe it could be your mom, dad, sister, brother, elder, or
your guardian. What’s your superpower? Maybe it could be reading, drawing, or maybe you’re really good
in school and that could even be your superpower. Having a superpower is very fun!
Makayla in Mrs. Flack’s class said, “My hero is my grandma because she brings over a toy each time
she visits.” That’s so sweet. What’s your opinion on this? If you want to add your opinions, write a letter
and have your teacher send it to Ms. Leppert. Ms. Jackson said her grandmother is her superhero because
she raised Ms. Jackson when her mother could not. Let’s not forget about your superpower. To refresh your
memory, some more examples could be flexibility or good balance. Cadence’s superpower is being kind.
Just remember to always be kind and fill up someone’s bucket instead of dumping it.
Pitch Perfect 2
By: Tarren Gibson
Pitch Perfect 2 was dramatic, fun and cool.
It also had some good actors for the job, like Anna
Kendrick, Brittney Snow and others. They had
smooth singing and good dialog with each other.
They also had some minor setbacks, but it all
came together. It was a good film and I’m glad
they made a second one. They also had good
songs to fit the movie such as the song Flashlight
sung by Hailee Steinfeld. She is an extraordinary
singer and person. She has a lot of potential. She
also collaborates well with the rest of the cast.
Lastly, she is very pretty and so is the rest of the
cast. Like I said before, I am glad that they made a
second one!
Girl Meets World
By: Tarren Gibson
Girl Meets World is a spinoff of Boy Meets
World. Some episodes of Girl Meets World were
made into books, like the book titled Follow Your
Heart. They are going through major boy problems
with Lucas, a boy in the TV show and the books. All
of the important characters are Riley, the star of the
show, her best friend Maya, Lucas and Farkle. The
new person added is Zae, but he is not in the books
yet. He is a funny, cool, laid-back dude who grew up
with Lucas back in Austin, Texas.
My favorite episode is where they go to
Austin, Texas when Lucas rides a bull! Riley finds
out Maya likes Lucas, and Riley wants Lucas and
herself to be like brother and sister. Except Riley was
never over Lucas. She was pretending so Maya could
be happy, because in the beginning she liked him, but
stepped back for Riley. My favorite part in the book
is when Lucas and Riley are in the hallway texting
each other even though they were pretty much right
next to each other. It is a good TV show and book.

Ms. Jackson is one
of the best volunteers!
Comic Strip

Thank You, Ms. Jackson, You Helped Us For Real!
By: Emely Ramirez
Ms. Jackson has helped us so much with the
Newspaper Club. She took our pictures and made us
professional badges. Ms. Jackson even allowed us to
interview her so that you can learn more about her.
Ms. Jackson said that her grandma inspires
her because she is the strongest person Ms. Jackson
has ever met. Her favorite animal is a parrot. She has
2 dogs and their names are Raven and Peewee. Ms.
Jackson also has a cat named Lucy and a parrot
named Bunkie. Ms. Jackson says her favorite
holiday is Christmas because, “I love seeing my kids
smile”.
Ms. Jackson’s favorite book is the Bible
because it helps keep her faith strong. If she were a
millionaire she would donate a lot of money to
homeless people and buy a really nice car. Her
favorite place to go is Disney because it’s just a lot
of fun. Last but not least, her favorite artist\singer is
Jessie J. because she is a truly kind person. This is
all about Ms. Jackson and as you can see, she is an
amazingly kind person.
A Special Thank You!
Ms. Jackson, we are so grateful for all you
have done. You give so much to others who are in
need. That is why you are a hero to us. Berkshire
is so lucky to have a volunteer like you. Thank
you for helping our club and our school succeed,
but more importantly, thank you for helping to
make the world a better place.
Sincerely,
The Berkshire Bugle

Halloween Parade
By: Raige Jachimski
The Halloween Parade was a big success! It was held on October 30th at 9:30 am. The students and
teachers walked around the school to the hill outside of the Kindergarten classrooms. Some people were
dressed as Star Wars characters, KISS members, princesses, and other cool costumes. Some people like
candy most about Halloween and some people like costumes most. Costumes are cool when you get
creative, and even when you don’t get creative your costume still looks great.
Little Miss Helpful
Do you have a problem and need advice? Ask Little Miss Helpful! A box labeled “Advice Column” will be
located in the front lobby. If you have trouble finding it, ask Mrs. Buse. It’s simple, just grab a piece of
paper and ask away. Then check the next issue of The Berkshire Bugle to see if your question was
answered. So that no one knows who asked the question, please use a code name like “bluerose123” or
“cooldude8”. Pick whatever name you like!
The Winter Ball By: Andrea Selby, Carmen Coco and Rebekah Keyes
The Winter Ball was on Friday, December 4th, at 6:30 pm. There were so many students and teachers there! Mr. Sabiston, Mrs. Sturm, Ms. Jones, Ms. Leppert, Mrs. Flack and even Mrs. Clinton. Some of the teachers even brought their family. The DJ played a lot of great songs and everyone was dancing all night! The best part about the Winter Ball was the photo booth in the cafeteria. If you couldn’t make it this year, hopefully you will be able to make it next year. It was so much fun!
