Typically attacks the , but can also affect other parts of the body.

lungs

The pneumonia is an infection of thelungs.

As a consequence of the disease, occurs congestion with liquid and inflammatory cells of damaged tissue.

It can be highly contagious, since the virus spreads rapidly in air.

A patient who has had sequels of pneumonia, can keep this in your body for a long time, which makes it potentially contagious.

Pneumonia can be caused by several etiologic

agents:

Multiple bacteria such as Pneumococcus (Streptococcus pneumoniae), Mycoplasma, Chlamydia.Different Virus.

Although physical examination, chest radiography and sputum culture are diagnostic tests common to both diseases, there are specific tests that are used

for differential diagnosis.

Cough and expectoration for more than 15 days

Cough, which may be dry at first, but eventually produces phlegm (sputum)

An episode of shaking chills followed by fever

Chest pain on the side of the infected lung. Severe abdominal pain sometimes occurs in people with pneumonia in the lower lobes of the lungs

Coughing up blood Blood in sputum

Cough accompanied by thick mucus, sometimes with blood (sputum) for a period of approximately two weeks

TREATMENT OF TUBERCULOSIS TREATMENT OF PNEUMONIA Two treatment phases: one of 6 months and

other of 4 months. The treatment uses a combination of anti-TB

drugs. The drugs most commonly used include:• Isoniazid (300 mg / day)• Rifampicin (600 mg / day)• Pyrazinamide (25 mg / kg / day)• Ethambutol (15 mg / kg / day)

Most can be treated without hospitalization1.BACTERIAL PNEUMONIAUse of antibiotics:The antibiotics that are used depend on the microorganism and the immune system. These are:AmoxicillinClarithromycinErythromycin

Other drugs that can be used to treat TB include:

•Amikacin•Ethionamide•Moxifloxacin•Para-aminosalicylic acid•Streptomycin

2. VIRAL PNEUMONIA

The pneumonia caused by influenza A is

treated with amantadine or rimantadine

and the pneumonia caused by influenza B

is treated with oseltamivir or zanamivir.

TREATMENT OF TUBERCULOSIS TREATMENT OF PNEUMONIA

Treatment is supervised by a medical to prevent antibiotic resistance.

The treatment in HIV-negative and HIV-positive individuals is the same.

3. ASPIRATION PNEUMONIAThis pneumonia acquired in the community or in a hospital can not be treated with antibiotics. The treatment is through CORTICOSTEROID.
