Overview of Course

• This beginning acting course will expose students to a variety of theatrical elements

• Emphasis is on characterization, voice, improvisation, movement, and theatre terms

• One of the purposes of this course is to encourage students to let go of inhibitions and exercise right-brain activity (studies show this is so important to do, especially in our texting/video game current era!)

Overview (cont.)

• This course is a journey that will challenge students to take risks and step outside their comfortable “box”

• There will be emphasis on presentation skills, group collaboration, problem-solving, and improvisation (acting without a script)

• One requirement of this course is to participate in EVERYTHING possible, and not be afraid of “looking stupid”

• Students report increased self-confidence and presenting skills as a result of this course

In a nutshell…

1. Be open and willing to take risks2. Be focused 3. Always reflect on your acting and listen to
