to spread the word about Blog Caf and Company. We will meet with local organization members
such as Fraternities and Sororities to book our event rooms for the local organizations meetings,
events, or socials in hopes of partnering with them. Showing up to local events with our logo
printed paraphernalia will also aid in advertising and should prove effective in the long run.
Advertisements will be published in the local newspapers: Florida Times Union and Florida
Star. Flyers will be distributed all over the area as well. These advertisements will create a buzz
around town about the grand opening of Blog Caf and Company. The advertisements will be

Competitive barriers are the conditions that may make it difficult, or even impossible, for a
firm to compete in a market. Researchers at BLOG Caf & Company have studied the industry and
identified various issues that were problematic in the start-up of other companies. Potential issues
are competing with other cafs that have already established goodwill and longevity. Macro-
economic factors such as, market inflation, consumer spending and business spending could also
impact the market. Market inflation could be defined as persistent increase in the level of consumer
prices or a persistent decline in the purchasing power of money, caused by an increase in available
currency and credit beyond the proportion of available goods and services. Consumer and business
spending could also impact the profitability of your business because it includes the amount spent
by households in an economy. Competing with businesses with a successful brand name and credit
could be a difficult but, possible feat. The rise or fall of the economy could also impact the
business. For instance, if inflation cost rises or income drops customers could possibly be deterred
from visiting a caf because of its luxury connotation. To prevent such issues BLOG Caf & Co.
has prepared a contingency plan which includes various promotions to keep a substantial amount

Production Flow
The production flow of Blog Caf & Company involves very little effort from its customers
while using its contemporary library and lobby area. Simply order your refreshment and utilize the
facility. However, the purchase of a monthly membership card could reduce wait lines and an

expansion of hours. In which, customers will simply purchase the card at the cashier area. The card
expires 4-5 weeks after purchase date. However, more effort is by customers that are interested in
booking an event in our establishment.
When renting out our space, customers must give a 30% deposit at the time of booking to
reserve the area. The usage charge for renting out a space is one hundred and fifty dollars for two
hours. This charge for the space will include an optional clean-up fee of $50. If the hosts or hostess
does not clean up the rental area then they will be charge the $50.
This low cost would appeal to many groups and organizations that do not have a highly
lucrative business. We are catering to the smaller people thus, creating awareness, loyalty, and
longevity. The host will be given the contact information of two staff members to ensure good
communication. The deposit fee with the exclusion of 10% could be refunded to the customer if
the reservation is canceled within a four day before the event.
During the event, customers will have access to cable television, lavatories, chairs, tables,
and a complementary sandwich tray. Local shuttle buses could also be provided to pick up
members from college campus that have booked an event. This action would work as an
advertising tool to generate more business.

Our location is conveniently place in Jacksonville, Florida. It is a common area among
several universities and institutes. Our targeted market is the traditional college student but, we
welcome non-traditional students, and others whom are interested in our business.
BLOG Caf & & Company is open to people that would like to enjoy a safe and relaxing
environment without the stress of doing homework or personal projects. The month of August
would not be our maximum month for profit. Because of external factors such as, students are
becoming acquainted with their professors and the course, it symbolizes that these students may
not have a heavy workload. However, to make this negative factor work for the functionality of the
business we will be promoting our services and products.
Written advertisements will be published in the newspapers of campus universities such as,
the University of North Florida and in local newspapers such as, the Florida Times Union and the
Florida Star. While, verbal communications will be given through school radio stations at little to
no charge to our business. As an added incentive to visit our caf, membership cards and gift cards
will be given out periodically.
Engaging features printed on the paper attached to the back of the gift card will gain a
friendly buzz. The months of September and October will be our months to cater to our
customers and establish a great rapport. A variety of refreshments will be offered to satisfy our
customers palates. Acknowledging the diversity of Jacksonville, Florida, we are offering drinks
that may be preferable among varying ethnicities.
Demographically, majority of our customers will be Caucasian, African-American,
Hispanic, and Asians. For example, to cater to the Hispanic appetite we will sale drinks that are
rich tasting and spicy. Our menu would be based upon years of studies from secondary sources that
have shown that Hispanics favor chocolate cayenne infused beverages. We will offer the option of

purchasing drinks that cater to a specific ethnicities taste. Hopefully, this action will minimize the
amount of products purchased by our company. This action could allow our firm to buy in bulk and
still maintain a descent cliental. However, people will be given the option of mixing their favorite
flavors. These could be done to attract customers that commonly order the same drinks in different
locations.
November would be a great month for our business, being that students would be
preparation time for finals. December could potentially be a profit-reduction month due to winter
breaks and holidays. January 1, 2012 and thereafter would be productive because we have
established what products or services are successful in the business, a great brand name, and
goodwill with our cliental.

Industry Analysis

-
8/2/2019 Sydney Taylor's Business Plan
21/42
The industry that we plan to compete in is the restaurant/store business, with a specialty in
entertainment and events. This industry is currently occupied with companies that offer services to
customers to sit and enjoy his or her meal. The standard caf is free to enter and few businesses
have free Wi-Fi in Jacksonville, Florida. These businesses usually provide services during the day
for breakfast and lunch. A few businesses serve dinner as well.
BLOG Caf and Companys specific role in this industry is unique. We are passionate
about making our customers feel right at home. We have a relaxing atmosphere and we strive to
make life long relationships with our customers by treating them like our own family. We will
carve out a niche market in the industry where we specifically target a college campus during
orientation or homecoming and provide a peaceful and relaxing, comfortable atmosphere to our
customers who are in the downtown Jacksonville area.
Strategy
The Blog Caf and Company competes on differentiation not by offering the lowest cost

given an idea of how long they will have to wait and are seated in a waiting area. Sometimes hosts
and hostesses suggest that the diners wait at the bar and have a drink. Hosts and hostesses locate a
