Kay Stratman received her BA in Art at Minnesota State University-Moorhead, and initially worked as a graphic designer in Minneapolis, MN. From Minnesota she moved to Maryland where she became active in the Sumi-e Society, eventually serving on the board. She has studied with numerous Asian brush-painting masters and has been a professional fine artist for over 30 years, winning many awards at Sumi-e Society of America national shows. She now lives in Jackson, Wyoming specializing in her own interpretation of P’o Mo, exhibiting and teaching around the country. In order to reach an audience not familiar to Sumi-e and P’o Mo, Kay has begun describing her work as “Splash and Pour”.
