home to an active community center that offers preschool programs, youth day

camps, classes for all ages and open gymnasium play.

A favorite park in Carlsbad. We've spent many hours in the playground and, apart from the sandy floor, I have no com-

plaints. The structures look pretty new, the crowd is watchful and involved, and there are lots of open spaces to throw a

ball or have a picnic. Gazebos are available for rent, and make sure you do make a booking because this a popular

spot for birthday parties.

This park is also the venue of the Carlsbad Summer Concert Series. Great way to spend a lazy summer afternoon

where you spread a picnic blanket, bring a basket, pop open your favorite beverage (alcohol allowed), and let the kids

run free. A dancefloor is usually located near the stage but beware of people dancing like epileptic frogs or spastic

chickens. A really fun way to people watch!
