“FOR THE RESIDENTS, BY THE RESIDENTS”
Happy New Year January 2013
Fulfillment in the New Year
Here’s to the outgoing year, 2012. May the good times live on
in our memories, and may we learn lessons from the troubling
times that will make us stronger and better then ever.
Here’s to 2013 for each and every one of you, may it be filled
with significant steps toward the fulfillment of your fondest
wishes.
In this coming new year, let us focus on our goals and work
toward our dreams, and yet (smile) let’s all try to go with the
flow a little more and stress a little less.
And most important, (raise your glass), here’s to all of you.
Appreciate yourselves and each other in the New Year as I
appreciate all of you now. Let’s focus on each other’s good
points and choose to overlook minor annoyances, to create
mutual happiness and contentment in 2013.
Here’s to 2013 (raise glass). Enjoy the journey!!!!
Happy New year from your editor, Phyllis Grossi
Annual Membership meeting
(We need you)
Since last January, 2012, your board has worked
diligently and was available to work with all the
residents to help voice issues and concerns to be
brought to management.
Do you have a suggested plan to make Southfork a
better place to live and socialize in? Do you want
“change?” Do you have any community events that
you wish you had more influence over? Do you have
any ideas you’d like to see implemented? Are you on a
committee or a board member and would like to have
more prominence? Here’s an opportunity to become
more active in our community. So, don’t sit back and
complain after the fact, come and join the forces!!!!
As a board member, your voice will be heard and
counted on for important issues and also being on a
committee will help anything that affects our community
association.
Please come forward as a member before the January
28th annual membership meeting, because your votes
count. Please help to make this a better community.
Let your voice be heard. Use your expertise and talents
to help our community. Volunteer for a committee today
if you don’t want to be on the board!
REMEMBER – you must have your dues of $20.00
paid by January 15th
, 2013 in order to vote or be on any
committee. Please submit payment to Mike Gallagher,
Treasurer.

Welcome to our Community of Southfork!
Remember………………………..TOPS weight loss support group meets each Saturday morning at 9am at the
clubhouse.
Southfork Annual Association Meeting
What: Our annual homeowner’s meeting is a chance to meet new neighbors, catch up with old
friends and discuss local issues. This January meeting has been designated by our by-laws to be
the first meeting of the fiscal year with the election of new officer’s and directors. Please plan
to attend and learn what’s happening in Southfork!
Where: Southfork Clubhouse, January 28th, 2013 at 9A.M. sharp!
Why: It’s your neighborhood, too! With our combined efforts, we can continue to make our
community a better social environment with better communication to everyone. We need
everyone’s support to help and vote on issues that everyone is happy with! It is next to
impossible to please everyone but there are ways to try and appease most of the people. If there
is anyone who is interested in being an officer or run as a director your name must be
handwritten in on the already printed ballot because nominations were closed at the November
membership meeting!
Who: You, the homeowners, must have your yearly dues paid by January 15th
in order to vote
for any new officer/director’s. The annual yearly dues is $20.00 per household and only one (1)
member of each household is eligible to vote. Submit payment to treasurer (Mike Gallagher)
11129 Maverick Dr or place in the suggestion box in the lobby of the clubhouse.
How: No need to RSVP, just show up!
Reason: We need more then one candidate for each office to run. If there is only 1 person for
each office with no competition, elections will be held and the slate is automatically given to the
only ones listed for each office. So, if you want “change” this is the time to do it!!! Please,
come and submit your name or your ideas.
from the Association President
Dear Friends and Neighbors
Much work and planning has been done to make this a
different New Year’s party, especially for the non-dancing
residents.
Music groups charge $1,000 or more to perform on New Year’s
Eve. So, we decided that we would provide great food, fun
games and pay out great cash prizes.
ALL monies received thru the donations of the $10 ticket will
be given out as cash prizes. The buffet is being supplied by the
Association.
As I write this, only 47 tickets have been sold. Most to 2 people
in the same household. That means, they are eligible to win
the months free rent……… and if they attend, the 2nd prize of
$250 and additional cash prizes.
Tickets will be sold at the door………..but to be sure that there is
a generous buffet please call me by the 29th!

Women’s Club
On December 5th, the Women’s Club treated 42 members to a Christmas lunch at the Golden
Corral. The Minutes and Treasurer reports were read and approved.
The Charity committee headed by Mary Bolin explained that this year we will have a different approach.
We as a charity group have adopted one family for the holidays. Nancy Steding who volunteers at the
“Cornerstone Center for Women” explained the need and how it is worked.
The Bazaar held in November was another success and we made a profit of $1503.82. Of that, 50% is to
the Charity Committee and the other 50% is to the Women’s club. I want to thank everyone in this
Community who helped us to make this fundraiser a success.
A brick in memory of “Claire Cox” will be purchased in her honor and placed with the other bricks we
have placed there at Hospice. Claire was a very dedicated member .
There was nothing to report for the Memorial committee.
The Gardening committee headed by Carol Whitbeck is having nice flowers in the large pots and it looks
very nice. The Quilters keep on working on different projects and always something so special!
For the Christmas meeting the ladies decided to bring $10.00 each and to give 50% to Charity. We
collected $310.00 and $155.00 of this went to the Cornerstone Center for Women and the other
$155.00 was raffled off to the delight of the members attending.
Tanya Hahn brought 5 beautiful “lighted” Christmas bags with gifts in them to be raffled off. Thank you
Tanya for your generosity.
Mary Bolin gave out 25 empty bags to the members with a list of food items to be purchased and placed
in the bags and these bags will be given to Day Star for some needy families.
We concluded our meeting at 10:30 and then all the ladies left to go to Golden Corral for our yearly
Christmas luncheon.
Our next meeting will be January 9th at 9:30am and hosted by Carol Albers and Peggy Elkins.
See you there and Happy New Years,
Marielle, President
PS……..At the next meeting we will have the Election of the Board……..think about it if you are
interested!

A HAPPY NEW YEAR
NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION FOR EVERYONE
This year seems different somehow, despite the traditions and holidays as they have been for years,
some families have lost loved ones, gained new grandchildren and great grandchildren and even
acquired new in-laws etc., that’s part of life. Expected losses and gains have made the year memorable
as we close the calendar year of 2012. There is something different in the air with the political parties,
economy, job losses and fear of not knowing what the future holds for all of us. Fear, but also
patriotism and it’s time for America to change back into the nation it once was and always has been and
be rid of all terror and be at peace.
This calls for a New Year’s resolution for everyone. Love your neighbor…..Cherish your family.
Appreciate your Country (USA) for its rights, its freedom and its values. This is a resolution everyone
should be thinking about now. The world has changed, America has changed and so must we……………..
Happy New Year’s to All!!!!!!
