President’s Message September 2016
Dear Alumnae and Alumni,
As fall approaches, the San Diego ASH is honored to host the ASH Western Regional Conference this October 21 – 22, to be held at University of San Diego. USD is one of only two Catholic universities in the United States to have a School of Peace Studies. Within the School is the Institute for Peace and Justice, where the conference will be held. The institute works internationally to “support individuals and organizations to build more peaceful and just societies.” Our conference, The Heart of the Peacemaker, will feature a presentation by Rev. William R. Headley, founding Dean of the Schoolof Peace Studies, and a panel discussionby the “Women Peacemakers,” one of theprograms offered in the School of PeaceStudies. The SDASH Board encouragesyou to take advantage of this opportunityto explore the School and meet withfellow alums from the Western Region.
Once again, our Jazz Supper will be held in La Jolla, on September 11th. This is the event that raises funds for the RSCJ Oakwood Retirement Center in Atherton, CA and, a scholarship for a

As students of RSCJ we share a global and unique bond, a bond of solidarity and spirituality. In San Diego, the ASH gathers in various parishes each first Friday, to pray for vocations and a cure for cancer. Please join us and pray for these intentions.
In closing, this is my last letter as President of the San Diego ASH Board. I am honored and humbled to have had the opportunity to serve this community. The Board members and Sr. Rodee have sustained me, taught and encouraged me numerous times. I cannot thank each of them enough as words do not express fully the gratitude in my heart. And a special “thank you” to all of you in the community for your support and partici-pation in our events.
In love and gratitude, Martha CrawfordPresident, SDASH
