- Writing Hiragana - Proper stroke order is important - Each stroke goes left to right and top to bottom - 3 different ways to end a stroke; tome (stop), hane (jump), and harai (sweeping)

The double points at the right top of hiragana mean they have a voiced consonant

*Dakuten is wrote last on the character*Do not write dakuten longer than the previous stroke

2. Watashi wa (Shimohigoshi) (Kana) desu. わたし  は しもひごし かな です。

3. (Kana) to yondekudasai. かな と よんでください。

4. Yoroshiku onegai shimasu. よろしく おねがい します。

 “ Nice to meet you./ How do you do?”

*only used when first meeting someone

2. Watashi wa (Family name) (“First” name) desu.  わたし は  ( しもひごし )   ( かな )   です。

 “ I am (First name) (Family name).”

*The first name follows the family name * “desu” is equivalent to English “am,” “are,” or “is”

3. (Nickname) to yondekudasai.  ( かな ) と よんでください。

 “ Please call me (Nickname).”

4. Yoroshiku onegai shimasu.   よろしく   おねがい します。

Must know this phrase!!Have various implicit meaningsUsed differently depend on the situation

“Be kind/nice to me??” “Please take care of me??”

How to use this phrase?[Meeting someone for the first time]A: Nice to meet you, I am Ichiro.B: My name is Mary. Yoroshiku onegai shimasu.A: Same here, yoroshiku onegai shimasu.

[When beginning a meeting, group work, or lesson]A: Is everyone here?B: Yes, it seems like it.A: Well then, let’s begin. Today, yoroshiku onegai shimasu.B: Yoroshiku onegai shimasu.
