TRANSCRIPT

HW – Make your brainstorm visual

• 20 images related to the starting points and artists (small)

• 3 artists (images of their work)• Visit 2 websites (images • Keywords related to the theme• Present on the first double

page in your book. • Bring 1-3 objects that you think

link to the theme ‘Order and or Disorder’

• Due: Monday

• Bring in an object to submerge into plaster.

• Small – around the size of a fist or smaller.

• Not valuable or precious as it cannot be reused.

Submerging your object in plaster - Steps

1. Place tinfoil scrunched up inside tray.

2. Fill it with sand so it is 1/3 full.3. Submerge part of your object

in the sand (this will be visible after.

4. Mix plaster with water (quickly) in a bowl until you achieve a smooth, cake like texture.

5. Pour in the plaster and leave to set for 24 hours.

6. Clean mixing bowl etc.

Using plaster

• Wash your hands straight after use.

• Only pour wet plaster down the sink. Leave the tap to run after.

Painting your plaster cast.

• Use a wash of acrylic combined with PVA to seal the plaster.

• Colour: ‘browny’ yellow in the style of Woodrow

1. Brainstorming

• -Choosing a space in the school-

• safe (out of the way slightly)• accessible (somewhere you can get to easily) • realistic (not too large)

Ideas

• Corner of the art rooms• Outside art rooms• Lunch hall • Above a doorway / stairwell• Under a stairwell.• Window.

2. Choose a sense

• Sight• Smell• Sound• Touch• Taste

3. Choose a method to change the space.

• Cover• Wrap• Move• Distort• Hide• Hang• Tear• Build• Stick• Etc...

Choose a (cheap) material to use (if needed)

• Eg:• String, cardboard,

plastic bags, tape

2. Recording the space-

• photos, notes, sketches, model 3. Do it!

Half term HW• Start a Double Page: • Title ‘ Changing a Space’• Brainstorm (possible locations and

initial ideas• 4 drawings, notes and photos of

your plan for an installation.• 1 A3 page• Buy any materials you need.

• Photographs x10-20• ‘Earth, Air, Fire and Water’• Read the photography section of

the paper and take photos based upon one idea or photographer.

• Present as contact sheets.

• Today you will begin the installation process for your own Sensing Spaces project.
