Future: Continued Need for Funds

• Control only: Would require estimated $10 billion over 20 years

• Eradication: Could provide benefits of $40 - $50 billion if transmission interrupted by 2015

• Routine immunization result: 200,000 to 250,000 cases per year – 40 million kids paralyzed in 20 years
