The WINNERS ARE . . .
I t is certainly a cliché by now, but Rose- Mary Rumbley has been described more than once as a Renaissance wo-man. She's a book reviewer, a teacher, an actress, a historian, a journalist, an author, and a lay leader in her church.
Rose-Mary holds a Ph.D. in commu-nications from the University of North Texas. She taught speech and theater at Dallas Baptist University for 12 years and served as single adult minister at First Baptist Church, Dallas, for seven years.
Our speaker today has written eight books. Four are about her native city of
Dallas, one is a cook book, What! No Chili?, and one is her history of the piano.
She appeared in the Dallas Summer Musicals and at Casa Manana in Fort Worth. Among her acting credits is an appearance with Ryan O'Neal in a movie called, "Blue Moon." Now, she is on the speaking circuit and enjoys researching each and every topic.
She has two grown children and one grand child. Consistent with Rose-Mary's philosophy of life, her topic for today will be "Laugh for the Health of It"

Cleve Clinton announ-ced plans for the Indepen-dence Day Parade on July 5. Especially need-ed are nominations of community leaders for Grand Marshall, and – Volunteer!
Clinton presented the Club Service Award to Susan Rog-ers. Charles Delphenis
presented the Spirit of Rotary Award to Ley Waggoner. Roy
Washburn presented the Service Above Self Award to Michael Rainwater.
Cleve Clinton introdu-ced our speaker today, Larry Young, President and CEO of the Dr Pepper Snap-ple Group. The company has a portfolio of over fifty beverages, but tries to act like a small com-
pany. They try to think like the little guy, they focus on their people, they invest in the busi-ness and their brand, they set big goals, and they love what they do. The company holds a spot in the Fortune 500, but also know what it is to be a small fish in a big pond. After the company was spun off and independent again, they could exercise their entrepreneurial spi-rit. Their focus on people and brands allow for local decision making. They expect their em-ployees to be accountable, customer-centric, transparent, and to own their decisions. They work together toward building the company to a position of strength. They are continuing to bring forth new products. He said he is a be-liever in setting big goals and striving to com-plete them. He believes that even if you come up short, you still will have gained a lot. He thinks goals should focus on where you want to go and not where you already are, and that you shouldn’t worry about what your competi-tion is doing. He believes you have to be wil-ling to take chances and not to over-think.
