President Phillip said that this had been a good year for the club in that we had ex-ceeded all of our goals. In addition, this year there are recipients for all three club awards for members who have been outstanding in their service. The awards were presented by the recipients of the awards last year. Cleve

ian Every Year contributions of $100 or more. To date 109 RCPC members have made EREY contributions. Kristine Christlieb gave the invocation. Larry Geb-

hardt led the Pledge of Alle-giance, “The Star Spangled Banner,” and “God Bless America.” Nolan Duck introduced

our visitors and guests, including a long-dis-tance visitors from Sao Paolo, Brazil, and Harare, Zimbabwe. Dax Seale introduced The Hub and the web advertisers of the week.

President Phillip announced that dues for 2010-11 are due.

Roy Washburn, Jack Kearney, and

Cleve Clinton announ-ced plans for the Indepen-dence Day Parade on July 5. Especially need-ed are nominations of community leaders for Grand Marshall, and – Volunteer!

Clinton presented the Club Service Award to Susan Rog-ers. Charles Delphenis

presented the Spirit of Rotary Award to Ley Waggoner. Roy

Washburn presented the Service Above Self Award to Michael Rainwater.

Cleve Clinton introdu-ced our speaker today, Larry Young, President and CEO of the Dr Pepper Snap-ple Group. The company has a portfolio of over fifty beverages, but tries to act like a small com-

pany. They try to think like the little guy, they focus on their people, they invest in the busi-ness and their brand, they set big goals, and they love what they do. The company holds a spot in the Fortune 500, but also know what it is to be a small fish in a big pond. After the company was spun off and independent again, they could exercise their entrepreneurial spi-rit. Their focus on people and brands allow for local decision making. They expect their em-ployees to be accountable, customer-centric, transparent, and to own their decisions. They work together toward building the company to a position of strength. They are continuing to bring forth new products. He said he is a be-liever in setting big goals and striving to com-plete them. He believes that even if you come up short, you still will have gained a lot. He thinks goals should focus on where you want to go and not where you already are, and that you shouldn’t worry about what your competi-tion is doing. He believes you have to be wil-ling to take chances and not to over-think.
