Bringing added value to you and your customers!

1

• Background– Attachments to various Realtor Association standard

purchase agreements recommends checking products for any potential recalls

• Issue– Identifying products through Consumer Products Safety

Commission/Health Canada is difficult to impossible. (No way to rule out entirely, difficult to search an entire house full of appliances in a reasonable amount of time)

2

Identifying Recalled Products

• Legislation governing recalls and defective products often state: Government & manufacturers may issue or change recall notices or warnings at any time

o Home buyers would have to research appliances on various websites during the inspection contingency period to know about recalls or other appliance issues

o Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) maintains a website (www.CPSC.gov) along with Health Canada (www.hc-sc.gc.ca)

o There is NO single, all-inclusive source of information on product recalls, defective products, or class actions

3

Why is it needed?
